Total Time = 1h 13m 50s
Overall Rank = 17/260ish
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 3/22
Pre-race routine:

I was running behind because I forgot goggles at home and had to turn around to go get them. So I was a bit rushed setting up in transition, until I realized race started at 7:30 and 7:00. Then I had plenty of time.
Event warmup:

I ran about a mile warm-up with intermittent strides, high knees, karaoke, etc... And of course I visited the bathroom a few times. Gotta love the nerves.
Swim
  • 09m 50s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 58s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

I need more time in the pool. I hadn't swam since Longhorn... I plan on really increasing my swimming volume in preperation for CapTEX
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Horrible T1. Couldn't get Garmin on very quickly. My right heel got stuck in the wetsuit. Then it took me almost four minutes to get into my shoes and up to speed on the bike. I need a lot of work here. Maybe start with Tri-shoes to make it easier to get in and out of them.
What would you do differently?:

Practice, Practice, Practice
Bike
  • 41m 55s
  • 14 miles
  • 20.04 mile/hr
Comments:

It took awhile to get comfortable. My legs were hurting a bit from the swim. Once I got settled in I felt pretty good. Passed a few people and only got passed by one person (guy on a Schwinn with Reynolds wheels?). I didn't spend much time in aero because of the constant hills and I felt a bit more comfortable in my drops. All in all it was a decent ride and I was happy to be over 20MPH.
What would you do differently?:

Get up to speed quicker. Transition sucked!!!
Transition 2
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

I was happy with this transition. I got out of my shoes much better than getting into them. Bike bounced a bit when I jumped off, so I just carried it. I didn't wear socks though, so it was a quick transition into my running shoes.
What would you do differently?:

I was happy with a 30 second T2
Run
  • 20m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

I was happy with the run. It took 5-6 minutes to get up to speed and I had hit the wrong buttons on the Garmin, so I didn't get an accurate pace, but other than that it was solid. I ran negative splits and finished with a 6:00 final mile which earned my 3rd place because the guy I was chasing ended up getting 4th. I was happy with the run and it is still my most comfortable discipline, even with limited mileage due to injury.
What would you do differently?:

I was happy with the run. I could have picked it up a little sooner, but nothing much other than that.
Post race
Warm down:

Sawusage Wrap

What limited your ability to perform faster:

T1 and Swimming. I need more time in the pool. I lost 2 minutes on the number one AG in the water alone.

Event comments:

I will come back because of the swim. It was awesome.
