Anyone heading down to the underwear run in a minute? I'll be the one in a stupid Australian hat, blue shades, and, erm, underwear.

When I did the race, there were a lot of kayakers. You're surrounded on four sides--you've got the barges at either end, the kayakers to your right and the seawall (spectators, spotters) to your left. You'll be fine.

Regarding the water quality, their liability insurance requires them to test the water often and give the results to their insurance provider. The provider won't underwrite the the event unless the water quality is ok, and no insurance means no swim. So, when you get in the water, you can be sure that not only is it safe, it's "insurance company safe".

Hope to see a few of you at transition tomorrow. I left a little message for everyone on the JetBlue graffiti wall at the expo. See if you can find it. I'm about 5'10" and it's about eye level for me.

Good luck to everyone this weekend. I'm not sure what time I'm going to check my bike in tomorrow, but on race morning if you see a 6'3" guy with a large tattoo covering his right calf wearing number 2999 come and say hi. I'll be wearing black and white kit with SunriseTri written on it.

ktirun - I ran down by the swim exit this lunchtime and can confirm that you can swim very close to river wall.

Have a good race,

Phil.

I checked in today and when I looked at my number, I said to the woman that I thought it was my number from last year. I pulled up the pics on my blog and sure enough, it is! I'm 1896 for the second year in a row, how bizarre is that? I have to think it's not a coincidence, but maybe it is!

I have a brick tomorrow so I think I'll be getting to bike drop later, around 4 or 5. I may just come straight from the ride and drop the bike earlier, around 3, and then just run later when I get home. It would be nice to say hello to some peeps. I won't be doing the tour, I got to see jmk today so I'm all set

Wow that is crazy, it must be a strange coincidence, i mean why would they purposefully give the same # to you twice? maybe it's your lucky number? ;-)

I'm 4678 and will be wearing the philly tri club kit (black, yellow and green)

I'm probably dropping my bike off at around 3:30ish and doing one of JMK's tours.  This is my first Olympic and I'm nervous especially since i haven't run in around a 1.5 wks due to a leg injury.  I'm going to test the leg during the race!

Hope to see/meet some of you.  My number is 3492 and I'm a 6ft asian guy in a black and white craft tri-jersey.

BTW is anyone bring other things today (ie transition stuff) along with there bike?  My friend is setting-up his whole transition area.

I bilateral breathe but I was going to breath mostly left to keep my distance from the seawall consistent so I wouldn't have to look ahead so much.  At least that was recommended here.  I don't have 'darkish'  It's either clear or dark for me.

And Thanks!!

For those staying home this afternoon....IM World Championship on NBC (130pm?)
Should be very motivational !

If you're going to the expo, United Healthcare is giving away earplugs, they are silicon and mold into your ears...I don't plan on swimming with them however used them to sleep last night...I didn't hear my kids at all this morning and was able to sleep until 840am...that's very late for me. : )))

I tried Cytomax, it's being served at the water stations along the run this year...taste's great...the Accelerade was tough last year.

If you check out the Toyota cars, you'll get a racebelt...I have several, but really like the one they gave out yesterday.

***I am not affiliated with any of the above mentioned companies.

Since there is a chance of RAIN...plastic bags for your transition area or as a bike cover are not a bad idea.

The water has zero visibility so the color of your goggles shouldn't be driven by the water, but rather what you prefer in the sun. I never race in clear personally, I wear dark, but I'd go with what you're comfortable with.

Funny...on the way home from drop-off today, about 2 blocks from home, I see a guy loading his bike unto his rack. I see the large Yellow number...as I approach, I mention that transition is starting to get crowded...he gave me a wierd look as if he had no idea what I was talking about and before I could get close enough to explain he hopped in his car, as he pulls away, I notice his number...#694...that was my number last year. Oh well.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!

I looked for some peeps, but only managed to run into JMK, who was running the tour -- JMK, thanks for that!  btw, on the big climb of the race -- other race report posts say that it is on the way back, and from my video of the bike course, it looks like this is just after you pass the GW bridge on the way back (southbound) on the Henry Hudson.  Of course, on the way out, this will be a nice long downhill where you can pick up a lot of speed!

Well, I've done about as much preparation as I can.  Figured out the transition area, counted the number of bike racks from swim in and bike in, visualized all the different sections...  To paraphrase a famous quote, nothing keeping me from going but the gettin'...

Good luck everyone, see you at the finish line!!!

E.

Nervous wreck!

Did the tour, and the guide (very nice) kept saying - and this is where people fall and get hurt. I'm like -- oh great.  That's me.

:-)

AND I forgot to pick up Gatorade Endurance.  I have never even tried Cytomax!  Where am I going to get Gatorade Endurance this time of night? EEP! :-)

I didn't see anyone falling last year so don't be too worried. JackRabbit on 14th street sells Gatorade Endurance and I'm guessing they are open until 8 or 9. I usually bring a big baggie of the powder with me so if you want to stop by my spot in transition this morning and mix some up you're welcome to. I have about 3 pounds of the stuff! Just have your bottles filled with water. I'm number 1896 in Yellow if you need it. I can leave it sitting out on the ground as well in case I'm not there.

Oh that is so kewl.  Can I really borrow your gatorade endurance?  Thanks so much.  I was too far away to make it to jackrabbit by 8 (when they close).

I am African-American and am with Team in Training (always with Team in Training).  Okay - I'm not raising money for them this event, but I am with them in spirit and hence wear the colors.

I'm a little concerned about that climb out of the park.  Short steep - looks like I want to fall there.  Did i Mention I'm 10 pounds heavier than I want to be.  Feel fat. bleah.

I bet SBR is open late too, and I think they sell GE.

Nice meeting a few of you today. I think I burned more calories today than I did in the race last year. I rode 3 loops of central park, plus 6 or 7 red transition tours, not to mention riding to and from the race site from Brooklyn. And today was the easy day.

Have a great race everyone--look for me on my black MTB between miles 3 and 5 on on the run.

Relax.
Feet on the ramp before you stand up.
Run in and out are at the south end of Transition
Bike in and out are at the North end of Transition.
Don't forget to hit the aid station on the way out of T2
Relax.
The big hills are at the North end of CP, so save something.
Don't forget to smile when (yes, WHEN) you cross the finish line.
Giddiyap.

Now go to bed.

Of course, I'll bring a bag with me. Just stop by in yellow 1896, my bike is a silver/black Cervelo and if I'm not there, the Gatorade Powder will be on the ground in a double baggie. 2.5 scoops for the average bike bottle, 3.5 scoops for an aero bottle. I will likely get there around 5am tomorrow. You'll be fine!

I think I'm right across from you.  1929.  The beginning of the great depression.  I won't let that bug me though.  I will look for you.  Would love to catch up again, maybe we can walk to the swim together.
