Subject: Fix a Flat
So I was pondering things on my long rides this weekend.  I was trying to decide which wheel set to use for IM KY and came around to a combo that utilizes a tubular in the front and a clincher in the rear.  (Don't turn this into a tubular vs clincher debate unless you want to let me borrow or have a PT rear race wheel)

So the complicated answer would be to carry a spare tubular and a spare tube.  But I think the simple answer is to carry a can of fix a flat. Like Vittoria Pit Stop (http://www.all3sports.com/product_info.php?pName=vittoria-pit-stop)

That would be the only thing I would need in case of a flat.  It would be quicker and with tons of less stress.

What am I missing?

Assuming that you are planning on running your clincher PT rear with a disc cover and your tubular 85 front, wouldn't it be easier to ask some of your friends who have race wheels to borrow their front.  I am CERTAIN you could find one.  Want a H3 for the race?  I might know where one is lying around.and isn't being used that weekend.  That might save you the stress and obsessing about what if scenarios. 

(do I have to do all the thinking for you?)

While that may be true Mr. Dollar...  isn't it faster to just fill it up and go then change it?

Good point bear, assuming it's not a catastrophic failure.

This was my concern last year.  I have heard mixed reviews on the product.  I have no doubt that a under typical training scenario it probably works and it may work better and faster..  But could you replicate the ease of error free application when are you freaking out during a race because....oh...you are trying to get a Kona slot and every minute matters. 

As you would say to one of your athletes...why complicate things?  Race like you train.   You know how to quickly change a clincher.  Borrow a wheel.
