I've never done the Ragnar before but I just did the American Odyssey Relay (Gettysburg to Washington) a few weeks ago....most fun I've ever had doing a running event.  I can't do this one due to a work conflict but I'm signed up for the Blue Ridge Relay a couple of weeks before....can't wait!!

I've considered it, it looks like a lot of fun. Would be extremely interested in participating, if a slot on a team was available.

Not a Marylander (NoVA'er), but I've got a team running this (I'm captain) - should be fun! If we end up losing people, I will probably put the APB out on BT for runners

Don't you already have a waiting list?

I do because I am just that awesome and everyone wants to be on my team . But BT is always a good last resort in case wait-list folks fall through.

I've always wanted to do a relay.  Perhaps we could put together another team.  Steve - would you happen to be one of those on wurkit_gurl's waitlist??

Let's hear from the other MDers (or NoVAers) Can we get 9+ more to express interest?

You could also be on my waiting list

Seriously, there's only like 2 people on my "list". I really hope no one backs out of my team or gets injured or whatever, but since the race is in September and early (ie, cheaper) registration is June 30th, I have to expect that it's a possibility.

Man, when I was looking for more teammates, I should have posted in the MD thread - VA'ers are useless Luckily, my outside-BT friends pulled through.

This would be fall between my September tris and my two marathons in October so would actually be good training for those.

Hmmmm, maybe if there was room on some team I'd be up for it ...... barring any other family commitments.

It requires being gone overnight, and sleeping (or attempting to) in a van with 6 other people (2 vans of 6, for a team of 12, plus 2 drivers) - if that sounds appealing to you

Dangit, seriously, why the hell didn't I poll the MD people?

Yeah, I read the info. page.

I'd even be willing to do three 8 mile legs ....... and they would all be well under an hour .....

You can't pick and choose the legs, though. You pick a position in the rotation- 1 through 12 - and run the legs associated with that position. So they're not all the same distances or same difficulty. Everyone runs in the exact same order, three times through the rotation. It's against the rules to do otherwise, actually.

As Team Captain, it's my job to know all of this crap (or at least I've made it my job), so when my teammates don't bother to read the Ragnar Relay Race Bible, and ask me the same things over and over, I can tell them

Sounds like we might be able to put together a MD Team.

Rick, we could run an Ultra Team of only 6. Each member runs 6 legs instead of 3.

Hmmmm, I don't want to take up the "Captain's Mantle" but if someone else wants to and we could get a group together I can see how the schedule looks.

Im in, if it gets off the ground. Ultra or otherwise. Im considering the JFK 50 miler in November, so the more running the better. I also may be able to find some fill ins from the "real world." if need be.

Sweet, so that makes 7 that have expressed interest, at least.  I don't know how I feel about doing an Ultra team... that's like 30 miles each and I don't know if my injury-prone body is ready for that... but I am always up for a challenge

Early registration ends June 30, so let's see if we can find 5 more people between now and then.  Does anyone else have experience with relays who want's to be captain?  I've never done one before so I'm hesitant to say that I'll fill the Captains seat.

This is who I have so far that has expressed interest:

mreber
strates
SCamp07 (if he is willing to come of wurk_it's wait list)
dolelicious (will have bananas in her van)
Dlaxman31
darbaugh
Daremo

pfft can't we get James too.  I'm sure we can convince him.  I'm in. I think it'd be fun to get a nice group.  How many are we shooting for?  30 miles?!  Broken into like 6 5 miles runs shouldn't be TOO bad!  Right?!
