Subject: Swimming Pools
Just moved to Boulder, Colorado and I'm looking for somewhere to do my swim training. Preferably free, or really cheap. I used to swim at my gym, but have realized that I was only using my membership to swim which isn't the best use of my money, and would like to avoid that again.

I don't know of any place to swim that's free.  I suppose you could ride or walk into Boulder Res.  The Boulder Rec centers have drop in swimming for various costs but around $6 per time.  I swim at 24 Hour in Boulder.

I didn't expect to really find a pool for free. Just wishful thinking. How is boulder res? That's a quick run from where I'm living now.

I haven't actually swam there myself.  Hoping to get a Stroke & Stride done there in August once I've recovered from my surgery.  We'll see.   I know a lot of other BTers who have swam there so hopefully they'll stop in.  Do you live in Boulder proper or one of the 'burbs?

You can ride a mtn bike in to the Rez from Coot lake on 63rd.  The swim beach is open 10-7.  You have to swim when there are guards there and only in the roped off area.  If you swim the inside perimeter of the ropes, it's about 300-350 yds.

The res is pretty clean but I believe that they charge you even if you run or bike into the main entrance. I am not sure about the mtn bike in.

They DO charge if you go in the main entrance, whether it's walking, biking, or in a car.  But if you come in on the trail from the opposite side, there is no gate.  Or you can get a yearly pass, and use that to get in the Rez all summer.

i just moved here and will only be here for the summer now (back full time in may), and i got a splash pass.

you can get it at any of the rec centers, and its good for full access to the res, scot carpentar pool (50m outdoor pool) and spruce pool (25 yard outdoor pool).
it was i think 120 for the summer.
