Swim
Comments: got a little beaten up at the start and near the finish. drank a lot of salt water. What would you do differently?: not much. i need to work on my drafting. Transition 1
Comments: t1 time is included in swim time. i had some trouble putting on my jersey (required for race). slow transition for me. Bike
Comments: i went out easy to save up for the beast and planned to push it a little more on the back half. legs started to feel crampy/tight at about mile 40. Transition 2
Comments: t2 time included in bike time. ok t2. Run
Comments: first mile was getting my legs working after the bike and then picked up. mile 2 8:10, mile 3 7:50. then both quads cramped badly and it became a run/walk march. felt better by mile 8 but never recovered and cramped again by mile 11. final 5k 33+ (my 5k time is usually around 19-20 min.). What would you do differently?: not much to do with the bad cramping. i tried fluids, nutrition, cooling but nothing helped. Post race
Warm down: walk, stretch, and massage What limited your ability to perform faster: bad cramps on the run Event comments: st. croix puts on a fantastic race. the roads are entirely closed and the spectator support was awesome! Last updated: 2005-03-10 12:00 AM
