Subject: Alexandria Apt Question
My father inlaw accepted a position on Barclay Rd in Alexandria. He currently lives in OH. I need any information on places to look for a Apt that is reasonable. Any help is appreciated. I only now about Richmond, so I thought some of you may be able to help. I don't want to steer him into the Hood!
Thanks!
Matt

Old Town is going through a huge change. There aren't really any apts. in the hood anymore. Another option would be metro, as there is a stop off King Street. I think Barclay is down towards Kingstowne which is near Springfield mall. I can't think of many apt complexes near there, but should be able to get fairly close. Is a car an option?

There is some pretty nice town home communities right around Barclay, one could probably be rented around $2000 a month. If there is Archestone Springfield, which is right next to the mall. They are probably at the high end of the price spectrum for apartments, but probably less than $2000. The only other apartments I can think of are more towards Duke St, and thus a bit further away, but still not a bad drive. You might check out Barton's Crossing on Ripley St. I lived there a couple years back, and didn't have any real issues with them.

If you have any questions about the location of specific places that you may come across, just ask, and I'll try to let you know what the neighborhood is like.
