I've really got no idea about the tri scene in Meridian.  We've got a great in Jackson which is about and hour west of Meridian.  They do host the Sunfish Tri over there, which is a pretty popular sprint in the area, so there has to be something.  There is the Bonita Lakes Reservoir there, which might provide some OWS opportunities and I think the park has some pretty sweet mountain bike trails if you're into that.  You might want to fire off some emails to the people on the contact list at the Meridian Athletic Association:  LINK  Hopefully they can help you out.

If you get a day off, you ought to shoot on over to Jackson and ride the Natchez Trace.  Might be chilly, might be sweltering, but it'll always be pretty and smooth.

Is that a road to ride on?  I like smooth roads.   I'll definitely have to do some research.  Not sure how much time I'll have off, but hopefully enough to take my bike to some good places....

The Natchez Trace is a great biking parkway - 444 miles long - http://www.nps.gov/natr/- From Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN.

I have done the Sunfish for the last 3 years but do not know anything about the TRi scene there. Hatttiesburg is a little over an hour south and we have the Long Leaf Trace (40 + mile rails to trails) and some good group rides.
