thats a good question, I was reading up on the areas to stay away from, but I cant be too far away from west Vancouver because I think that's where I will be working. Mabey New Westminster? Any suggestions?

West Vancouver is on the "North Shore".. out toward Horseshoe Bay... and the Sea to Sky Highway... New West isn't on the North Shore... it's on the Fraser River (i think)... so.. if you live in West Van.. and plan to commute to New West.. you'll be looking at a daily commute over 1 of the 2 bridges :P

New West is a cool place, but pretty far for commuting to West Vancouver.

We have West Vancouver, West End, Westside and these are all different places. Let us know where you will likely be working and everyone can probably recommend some places to look for housing.

Stick to the west side otherwise the commute sucks big time! And you doesn't want more body art! Congrats on Ironman reg. I was thinking of reg. after i heard it never sold out but i think that goal is bigger than my ability right now. Good for you though. I will be up there watching next year!

Hey, excellent news! Glad to hear you're settled on a place, North Van is a great city, the traffic in Metro Vancouver kind of sucks anywhere you go but the pros far outweigh the cons. And signing up for IMC!!! That is awesome! Way to go! And I'll pass on the tattooed knee high socks, getting enough looks with the regular ones. A great idea for the housing is Craigslist in my humble opinion

That's the West End. I know, it's confusing. I live really close to Stanley Park (1 block north of Davie and 2 blocks east of Denman) and I love the area. It's definitely within walking distance of downtown if you end up working there.

Downtown is close to many skytrain routes though, so you could live in New West and commute downtown no problem.
