Just some newbie advice.  I was at Chicago this weekend.  On my third trip to the Porta-Potty, there was no TP. I got some antiseptic wipes at an aid tent, and went back in.

OMG antiseptic wipes burn like hell.  After I was clean, I actually used a dollar bill to dry off and kill the burn.

So...may I recommend you bring extra TP.  And if we are at the same race, could you spare a square?

I'm certainly not going to ask you to borrow any money.

I'm just glad i had a bill.  that would have been awfully messy with 3 quarters, 2 dimes and a nickel.

Wow, the value of the dollar sure has diminished.  I hear some people are now wiping their azzes with it.

My mother always told me money was dirty.  "Just think, you never know who has touched that money and you don't know where it has been, now go wash your hands."

I learned a while back to start carrying some of those flushable wipes with me to races because I always seem to spend a lot of time in the porta potties.

I have flushable wipes on my race packing list. Much better than toilet paper particularly on longer race days.

After I walk out of the porta-potty I hand the pack to the next person in line and say "Use what you need and pass them on".  People are usually VERY appreciative.

If you're in a porta-potty where the TP has run out, you can always tear up the cardboard tube and use that.

I also carry a little bottle of hand sanitizer since there usually are no handwashing stations at the port-a-potties.

Now where oh where was this post prior to my race?  All of this would have been good to know before I burned my bottom and spent a whole dollar to get dry.  BT never failed me until now.

Might I suggest using your swim cap?

I was at a practice tri this last weekend and had to use the bathroom before the swim. The bathroom, and I use that term loosely, consisted of two pit toilets side by side with no barrier in between.  Picture sitting on the toilet with just 2 or 3 feet between you and your neighbor.  Not exactly pleasant.

So there I sat taking care of business.  I looked up for toilet paper and saw none.  Not even the toilet paper roll.  There was nothing in the "bathroom" to use, but I HAD to wipe.  I decided to use my swim cap (that was tucked into my tri suit) as a wiping device.  I hated to put latex into the pit toilet, but I needed to wipe.  That's all there was to it.

Next time, I'll bring my own toilet paper and a couple extra rolls for the people to come after me!

Yet another reason to take a bucket along to every race.

But what if you are not in the 'Brown' swim cap wave?  Then do you need to switch to that wave, or just be a mismatch?
