Pro 6011 Camp Hill, Pennsylvania | Subject: Saturday Morning Ride in SC PA? There seem to be quite a few people in SC PA who are active in the PA forum, and many seem to be racing sprints the weekend of the 26th. I was thinking that it might be fun to meet up for a ride this Saturday morning of 20 miles or so. That should fit in fine with everyone's training 1 week out from a sprint. If anyone is interested, post here, and we can decide what time, and where it should be. I live half way between York & Harrisburg close to I83, so pretty well anywhere will work for me, and I'm good until noon. Don |

Member 157 Red Lion, PA | Subject: RE: Saturday Morning Ride in SC PA? i'm probably running 12 on saturday, and was planning to ride the YMCA Southern Branch bike course on sunday. Only 15, but i have to remind myself how bad i am at hills - -or at least prove to myself that i have improved since last year. |

I train a lot around Pinchot too, so I know what you mean about wanting to find somewhere else to ride. Have you ever rode west from Dover or Rossville? I drove through there recently, and noticed that it seems to be a lot flatter than the rest of the area. I wonder if there are any good routes out that way? |

I have family in Carlisle and am down there a good bit. I did a great ride back in June or so that went out past Pine Grove Furnace State Park (Laurel & Fuller Lake) and continued all the Way to Caledonia. Then I turned Left on a major road that I think took me into Gettysburg maybe, then back to Carlisle and hit up Boiling Springs. Was around 70 miles. Sometimes it's worth it to drive 20 minutes to be able to ride on new roads if you're getting bored! |

Pine Grove Forest, Michaux, and Caledonia. You end up on Rt 30 so you take it East, into Gettysburg or, at the bottom of the mountain you can turn left and take 234 and avoid most of that traffic. From Dover or Lewisbery, we would take Rt74 up through Dillsburg and Boiling Springs. I know exactly where you are talking about. |

The road is closed a few miles past Fuller Lake. They closed it on the 14th but I'm not sure when it will be reopened. That is a nice area though, we do that on the motorcycles a few times a summer as well. |
