Pre-race routine:

Had my breakfast bar and diet coke while driving to race. I arrived pretty early and got a good spot on the rack near the bike out my row was second. I pumped up my tires, set up all my stuff.
Event warmup:

Got in the water for a few minutes. Then waited for my wave the fifth and last one 20 minutes after the first.
Swim
  • 22m 59s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was ok
Transition 1
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

First time at a tri taking off full wet suit was hard but no too bad.
Bike
  • 53m 5s
  • 15.53 miles
  • 17.55 mile/hr
Comments:

For about two miles about 1/3into the bike segment I heard an unusual sound from either my wheel or cranks. I thought I broke a spoke or something but it went away after 5 minutes. I ate 1 GU chocolate outrage and drank about 1/2 bottle of water on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 05m 13s
Comments:

Did I take a nap? I guess so.

First off, the rack full so I had to rack by bike on another rack. Then I couldn't find my heart rate monitor. I didn't want to wear it the entire race because I was worried about getting the full wetsuit off with the watch on so I stuffed it in my running shoe but then I forgot as I put it in there at the last minute so it wasn't just laying about and spent time looking other places for it Doh! I really need it on the run because that is where I need to watch my HR over 150 and I feel pressure in my ears and feel a bit dizzy.

So by the time I found it, started it, got my fuel belt, race belt there went over 5 minutes... Fb*d@#^!
What would you do differently?:

Be more organized.
Run
  • 46m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 14m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Kept running almost always, walked just to drink or eat some of my luna moons.
What would you do differently?:

Keep running and lose weight so I can move faster.
Since I had done another tri less than 1 week before this I didn't really rest or taper for this so I wasn't that well rested.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, had a water, bagel and orange.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Me, my weight.

Event comments:

Nice race, lots of volunteers and people on the course, 2 water stations on the run. Nice race.

Great job Losta!  Don't worry if you are BOP.  At least you are moving your body and trying something new.  Bummer about your T2.  I would be thrown for a loop if I didn't have a space to park my bike.  Congrats again!  You are a triathlete!

Woo Hoo great job fellow nutso!

I hate when things get confusing in transition, but it's good we get these awkward ones out of the way before the bigger races - working out all the kinks.
