Total Time = 1h 12m 52s
Overall Rank = 71/985
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 4/41
Pre-race routine:

Usual stuff, early to rise, and just get a little food into me. Drank some java, and a little breakfast. Lookin forward to this sprint, my 3rd triathlon, and I am wearing a wetsuit for this sprint!
Event warmup:

Just some light stretching, and a short 100 yards in the water to loosen up. I tore my wetsuit, so I was a little bummed about that.
Swim
  • 14m 4s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 36s / 100 yards
Comments:

I started in the middle of the pack, and did the typical climbing all over each other. Could never find anyone to really draft, so I just kept stroking away, focusing on being smooth and fast. Even though I'm not.
What would you do differently?:

Really nothing. Just was a bummed about my rip in my suit, but that is minor.
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

I struggled to get my wetsuit off (again), and was a little slow out of T1, although, this is my fastest T1 to date. Only done 3 of these bad boys, so I am not too experienced.
What would you do differently?:

Need to actually get off my ass and practice T1/T2 to get better and more comfy with this hectic part of the race
Bike
  • 37m 28s
  • 13 miles
  • 20.82 mile/hr
Comments:

I practiced on the course the week before, but just a joyride. I was pleased with my performance, and can't complain. I really left it all out there.
What would you do differently?:

Hard to ride such a technical course with my bike, which is set up for time trialing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

T2 was fast, but I got a nasty cramp that fortunetely cleared up fast.
What would you do differently?:

Baking powder in running shoes to help feet slip in easier.
Run
  • 20m 36s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were typically heavy to start, but I enjoyed passing a bunch of younger guys. I LOVE IT! I also loved my light weight Asics DS Trainers. Made a big diefference
What would you do differently?:

I did not drink anything until the run, a stupid mistake I will not make again.
Post race
Warm down:

I was BEAT, so I just did a little light stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably my 40M bike ride the day before. This was not a top priority race, and I felt I needed to keep my normal training program in tact.

Event comments:

I improved in every single category from my first sprint. I swam faster, biked much faster, and ran faster. I also transitioned faster. Lar-Dog is a happy triathlete, and am gearing up for half marathon next week.

AVG HR 165, MAX HR 172, this is serious lactate threshold racing, and it hurts! It hurts WAY more than Half Iron, because it is pedal to the metel the whole way. I was pumped that I averaged over 20MPH on a crazy hilly, full of turns course.
Wind: None
Course: Technical 3 loop course, with hills galore. A lot of bikers kept me from getting around them, but, 13M goes by pretty quick. I was gassed and was happy to get off the bike, and really unsure if I would have ANY legs to run with at all

Very Cool!  I'm really impressed with your T1 - you managed to get your wetsuit off and sneaks on in less than 1.5 min.!?  Yeah, you better practice to cut out all that slop time!!!!

Really fast in all three areas.  The other three guys in your AG must be flyin' - but I'll bet you catch them soon!
