I've swam up to 1/2 mile without problems in my sprint triathlons, but when I'm in the pool, I seem to always hit a point where I feel like I have to stop and rest.  Last night I pushed through and swam a full 1000m without stopping!!  And I did it using bilateral breathing (every third stroke)!  That's also a big deal, as I always get stuck breathing every two strokes.

Anyway, when I started my warmup, all of the lanes were in use.  When I finished my 1000m, there were only two other lanes in use.  I guess I outswam everyone else.

Woo Hoo for 1000m!  Look out 1500m... here I come!!

That's awesome. I am working up to the 0-1650 in six weeks plan. I am in week two right now. I normally breath every 3 strokes, but by about 100m(yds) it feels like I can't breathe...like my lungs are too full. Fortunately, the program swims "intervals" so I get to take a rest after 100 m...

Woo hoo!!!  I noticed you said the you "pushed through."  GREAT Job!  We've got to be willing to push through our discomfort in order to break those "imaginary" barriers.

You'll be swimming a mile in no time!

Nice job!  I am looking at the 1500m mark next also but have taken some time to work on my stroke.  Hopefully 1500m will come soon!  Just seems like a long time to swim (yep, I am very slow)

I remember breaking the 1000 yard barrier, what a great feeling.
Keep it up Triathlete.

When I broke that mark I shouted and spiked my goggles I was so happy. Luckily is was during an AM practice for my kid's swim team, so they didn't care.

Congrats on a job well done.

I've been doing a lot of intervals since, sith only an occasional 1000. But I just did one, being conscious of body roll, and got it done in about 20 minutes, which for me, is another goggle-spiking event.

sometimes when i hit a boundary like that i use the kickboard for a lap, catch my breath, and see
if i can talk myself into 200 or 400 more yards. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.
