Subject: New running shoes - Beasts
Well, I went out today to the local running room with the intention of buying a new pair of running shoes. The young lady who served me, questioned me on my running habits, had me walk up and down the aisle, and proceeded to fit me with all the shoes she thought would be of benefit to me. After trying on numerous pairs of shoes, I found that the Brooks Beasts were the pair that fit me best. This store is owned and operated by a runner, staffed by runners and its purpose, other than turning a slight profit, is to get runners into the best shoes possible. The best thing about it is the return policy; if, for any reason, I decide to return these shoes within 30 days, they will be exchanged for another pair, or my money refunded, "no questions asked!" The shoes feel great thus far, although I have yet to run in them but I will post my appraisal of them on this forum as soon as I form an opinion.

Hmmmmmmmm...I think that I may have to take the Beasts back to the store and look at Asics again! The arch of my left foot is being rubbed raw by these new shoes and it hurts like heck. I'll bring them in a lunch time and see what they can do; if nothing, then it's a new pair for me.

Yep! I got a new pair of Asics 2080 in exchange for my Brooks Beasts. I just could not run in them as they hurt my arch. I went for a 5K jog today in the 2080's and they feel great!

stay with what works I guess. I am running in Asics 1080's but I suppose I'll have to go to the 1090's right?

The Brooks Beast is designed for people with flat feet, so if you have a higher arch, it definitely could cause you problems.  I just got a new shoe, by Mizuno and I think it is called the legend that I will be trying out this week.  I will let you know how I like it!

Ellen, you don't necessarily have to buy the 1090's. There are still plenty of 1080's available out there and as long as the supply lasts they will cost less than the 1090's. The 2080's are even nicer and cushier than the 1080's.

somewhere around the 2060's I switched to the Kayanos. The 2060's just didn't work for me like earlier models. But the Kayanos are so damn expensive! So I was at this large, major sports chain and saw the1080's for cheap and decided to give them a shot. I love them and should probably buy a few extras now while they are still around.

I've been running in the Asics Gel Cumulus, but plan on trying the new Landreths that are an upgrade. But if they don't work out I'll stay with what works. I'm terrible, always figuring there's something better out there. But I find it's best to keep an open mind when it comes to running shoes. More expensive in not necessarily better.
