Subject: Amgen Tour of California 2010
Next Tuesday my race team and bike clubs are having a big meeting with the City Mayor and sponsors, etc, to discuss the stage routes for 2010. Last year the tour ended stage three in Modesto and the year before it started here. I was able to be at the finish line last year and it was way different than I expected, it was a truly amazing experience for me, besides talking with all of the big names up close, it has inspired me to want to race next year, so I'm really stoked about 2010.

That sounds awesome!

I would love to get out there to see the race in person.  Friend of mine here on BT had VIP passes last year and followed the race all around.

Question is how well the Tour of California is going to do competing against the Giro this year.

Funny that the TOC site says "Lance Armstrong Rides again", and velo news (at least last week) stated that he hasn't made up his mind which race they will do.

Will probably see the american based teams focus on it and the euro based teams send their 2nd tier riders there.

Garmin said TOC is a priority and BMC will be there. Still a question about Columbia HTC.

Per cycling news Lance is torn because he wants to support the domestic race but like how he rode into shape at the Giro this year.

I jsut wish Cav was going to be stateside.

hope it goes well! nothing better then having it come close by! we have been lucky enough to have it staged within miles of our home for the past few years! so will you be suggesting routes? and has the route not been set in stone for this upcoming year?? or are they still in the works of where it will go!?

Lance might not be there but levi will, Lance mentioned several times since the Shack is an american sponsored team that the ToC will take priority over the giro. He might send levi and a small squad and take kloden with him to the giro.

Lance is a huge draw for the race thats for sure, last year out of all the racers I saw hime the least, even as he came accross the finish he was protected and hard to see. I read somewhere that allot of the racers that went to the Giro did not fare well at TDF and those that skipped did well, do not know how true it is but nothing is official yet!

Excellent for So Cal.  Stage 7 TT two blocks from my office, Stage 8 to feature a local climb

Stage 7: Los Angeles time trial.
Originally, the plan was to start the time trial downtown and go to the beach. The LA Triathlon used a similar route and the city concluded the traffic impact was too great. So, the time trial will take place entirely downtown. It will start at finish at L.A. Live, the entertainment complex that houses the Staples Center.

Stage 8: Thousand Oaks circuit race.
The race will conclude with a circuit race in the Santa Monica Mountains. There will be at least one canyon climb over the top of mountains and a drop down to the Pacific Coast Highway. SoCal roadies can look for the Rock Store climb to be featured.

Levis is committed to a 4th win --

Three-time Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer made his intentions clear for the 2010 edition of the race on Thursday following the announcement of the race's host cities. "There's no doubt I want to win it again," he told Cyclingnews.

"It gets more and more difficult every year you come back as defending champion. I've won three times, and if that's all I win in my career, I'll be happy with that."

Looks to my from the Garmin line up at the Giro they are giving experience to some young riders like Jack Bobridge (Go Aussie) who at only 20 is likely to be pulled out before the end of the race...

So Im guessing they are sending most of the more mature riders to ToC...

Not sure about the rest of the teams...
