I just have put it on the back burner recently and I need to get back into it, this is the perfect motivation to do so!

well get your ST off the back burner and get a lifting those weights.

do you follow a certain plan/regime, ANN, w your strength training?

and btw, just a general question for all the GHOULIES, is grunting actually NECESSARY when you lift weights, cuz, well....the guys at the Y GRUNT all the time, i wonder if its just something, well, guys need to do when they lift weights or is there actually some purpose to all that.....uhm.....GRUNTING.

stacieb

Nope - they are just lacking in other areas and make up for it in loud noises at the gym to impress people!

Our Y is pretty quiet fortunately!

thanks for 'settling' that for me, BILL.

and another thing.

SERIOUSLY, do you get a workout when you do 3-4 lifts per set and then spend the next 10 mins 'primping' in the mirror???

it didnt get bigger in the last minute.

really.

it didnt.

geesh.

ill start coming to your Y, BILL....where its....uhm....quiet.

Her daughter was in IMC so she inspired me from Cozumel.  She said Ghoulies were third in line behind Family & Friends (and partying in Cozumel )

I never did follow the race so I don't know how she did.

Her # is 803 (stephanie Snaman)

hmmm.

lets see.

partying in COZUMEL....hanging out in GHOULIE VILLAGE.

partying in COZUMEL....hanging out in GHOULIE VILLAGE.

yep.

i can see why we came in THIRD.

what an awesome place to do an IM!!

lucky for her daughter.

Nope - I do the mirrors to watch my form and then move on.

We have all the football players now that the season is over.  My night time workouts are going to start coming to an end because it is annoying.  They stand around and shoot the carp more than anything else.

Go lift at the school guys - just tell the girls to walk around for you to stare at!

Back to mornings for me then I can hit the pool in the afternoon - when it is quiet!

at our Y theres a bunch of 20-30 somethings...

is it like BODY BUILDING SEASON or something, cuz they just seemed like they came out from nowhere.

these arent necessarily the grunters and primpers and BS-ers.

they're DEFINATELY serious about what they're doing and i suppose that there is a 'method' to their madness.

there i am lifting my 15-20-25 pounds and theyre lifting like a GAZILLION POUNDS right next to me.

i dont mind so much that THEY'RE there.

now the grunters, primpers and bs-ers, THATS a different story.  oh and the HS students and the Suburban Barbie Dolls, dont even get me started......

Hi Ghoulies,   Thanks for the entertaining thread  Tongue outLaughing   swim pace booty etc.

I am in the Du December challenge with run and bike.  I want to change up my ST and ramp up my reps, so I will do ST  with the ghoulies.

I am swimming too but not for any of the challenges.  950 yds today.  I am so totally impressed by your swim distances, STACIE and NEAL.

December is a hard month for me, schedule-wise. My son is out of school for most of December, but my daughter (who doubles as babysitter when I'm desperate to get out of the house) is in school until right before Christmas. I won't set any goals this month because I just end up getting frustrated and discouraged because of them. So, I will be team cheerleader again. Go do what you love, Gouhlies! *edited because I can't type very well.

Hey Amy,  always glad to have a cheerleader.  And instead of set workout goals, there is always (Robin's or Kim's or Somebody's??) philosophy of anything more than zero movement!  Smile

It's kinda like yelling when you punch or kick in martial arts. Exhaling helps the "explosiveness" of the move (supposedly) and I suppose a grunt is more appropriate to the weight room that a "HI-YA!" As for me, I don't grunt so much as growl...

Hi Ghoulies.  Ridiculous crazy day today and just getting home from dinner in NYC. I'm too wired to sleep but don't have the energy to read today's comings and goings.  Hopefully tomorrow will cool down and I can catch up.  Until then, hope everyone is doing well and that Neal has sewn up his jammers.
