I have a Timex Triathlon 150 lap watch that i have had for 2 years.. its a great watch and perfect for me. i just bought a battery replacement 2 weeks ago and the little thing that holds the extra part of the band just broke off tonight... I wear it almost every day and take it off for dress up occasions (hardly ever) and randomly when lifting or shaving arms.

ANY IDEAS of what i can do with the extra slack in the band besides cut it off?

Holy cow...mine just broke too...weird.

I am gonna try to run by a rubber parts store (okay go ahead, snerk, even chortle if you mustTongue out) and see if I can by a small thin o-ring or something that might work.

My polar s625 that I used to have did the same thing. I found one of my wife's hair rubberband's and used it...works like I champ...still have the watch, but don't use it anymore since I bought my 305...

hahahahaahahah......  Laughing

I actually had the same problem.  Both my Timex watches were bullet proof and never gave me problems EXCEPT on both of them that same part finally broke.  I haven't worn a watch in two months.

I would actually call Timex and see what they say.  Otherwise, super glue might give you a temporary fix.

Mine just broke too!  However, I had been wanting to replace it with a watch that had a lap function anyway, so I used that as an excuse to upgrade.  I'm now the proud owner of a pink woman's Ironman model.

As for other options, how about replacing the band?  They're pretty cheap.

Mine also broke, and I found a black plastic type of washer to use, works like a charm!

edited because my typing sucks!

The problem I had with that was that (as stated above) my polar 625 band has to be replaced by polar. You can't get one at the local wally-world...I was either too cheap or too lazy (probably a combination of the both) to send it in...So, instead of getting a new band, I bought a new watch (FR 305)...

Mine has broken twice (I had it replaced the first time by a watch shop for $3). It just broke again and I am just wearing it with the strap flopping around. This is not to mention all the paint on it has been totally chewed up (I called Timex, they told me my sweat was acidic (sorry what?)).

Overall I'd venture to say Timex quality has gone downhill. I've worn timex for as long as I can remember...I'll probably begrudgingly just get another one or look for another brand.

Oh and to fix it you can take it to watch place (like a cart in the mall) and have them put a new on. They'll do it for a few bucks.

You can also just buy a replacement strap ($11 or so).
