Wow - a mini heat wave (14 degrees) and some sunshine. Too good to resist so I sneaked out in my lunch break and grabbed a 40 min cycle around the villages close to home - my first outdoor ride since I got into this tri stuff again at the end of last year. All that TT work paid off as i didn't expire, but I'd forgotten how much tougher the road is to the trainer. The sun in my eyes, wind in the face and surprising rabbits and other wildlife on country lanes reminded what what a great experience this is as well as a means to tri success - especially when you live in the country like me.

Cant wait to get back out there again! I knew I was right to sign up for the 54 mile charity ride in June........

I envy your country living and your ability to take time from work to enjoy such a wonderful day and time on your bike. I am so anxious to do more riding in DRY weather!!! And sun would be a nice addition....

I wouldn't road bike if I didn't have lanes to ride on - I hate main roads and need to conquer that combination of FEAR, fumes and noise. Getting away from civilisation is a big part of the appeal for me in running and cycling - especially with the spring and summer evenings now drawing out.

I haven't quite gotten to the point of taking long rides yet. Partially that's because work has been insanely crazy, and partially it's just not warm enough for me, yet. But I did sign up for a 40-mile ride on May 1, and for some shorter ones later in this month. I'm trying to step outside my comfort zone a little and do group rides even if I have to go alone. Next up: get my bike to the shop for some tune-up-type attention.
