Subject: Garmin 305 and Cadence Sensor GSC 10
I just purchased a used bike and I'm thrilled that I can now add some real bike riding to my spin classes. It is very slightly too big fro me (57cm VS 56cm) but I'll live with that for now as it gets me in the game.

I have (and love) the Forerunner 305 and I see a can add a speed/cadence sensor to the bike for about $70. If anybody here uses this combo can you tell me if cadence and speed data is saved in the history and uploaded to the Garmin software (training centre)?

The manual is clear that those details are displayed on the unit but not clear (that I can see) if the data is saved.

Thanks.

It is saved and can be uploaded.  You can also upload the garmin data to your logs here.

You know you can get that sensor for about $40 on Amazon.com?

Another upside is if you use an indoor trainer or rollers you can still get speed and distance information since the sensors are ocated in the rear wheel.

there is an amazon.ca.  I look for Canadian versions of almost all websites for my Christmas shopping since my whole family lives in Canada.  Makes the shipping and what not so much easier.  Not sure if they have it on their site though, didn't look.

Yes the cadence info is saved and uploaded to the Garmin Training center. The Garmin Training Center software is useless. I would suggest Sporttracks. I started using Sporttracks once I got my 305 and love it. Free and has lots of plugins to improve what it already does. You dont even have to be online to upload and take advantage of the great features. Even better than the BT logs which is probably one of the better online logging applications.

There are also tons of cadence sensors on ebay for right around $40.  Not sure about shipping to Canada though.
