I did it 2007 and 2008 and was the run course volunteer captain last year.  It's a lot of fun.  Great race.

I have done it in 2008 and 2009.  It's a fun race.  Swim has a few challenges with going out against the current to start then cross current.  Really depends on the river conditions.  Last year was HORIBLE from all the rain.  Bike is a challenging but doable course.  Mother of a hill just before the turn around.  LOVE the run on this course.  80% shaded and trail running!  Planning on doing it again this year.

Being too lazy to look. Whats the date on this? This is Richmond, right? I didn't consider this race, but the name always catches my attention

June 27. I did it last 2 years and I love it although I did get injured on the run due to tripping over something on the trail. The swim has been shortened to 500M from 750M.

I'm thinking about making this my first tri...just not sure if I'll be ready by then or not!  If not this one then I'll do the Patriot in Williamsburg.

It's a good race.  She has changed up the swim so that will be easier.  The bike course is hard but a blast.  LOVE the run course on this race, trail run mostly....just a little through neighborhoods.

it was my first race last year - it was fun, well run, and great bbq after!  also, i met lots of BTers because of this race (rode the course with QueenZipp and Artemis a few weeks before!)  it's a blast, just do it!

This is my favorite race. As long as you are comfortable with an open water swim for your first tri you will love it.
The trail run is great and BBQ too. What's not to like.

Um...I'm terrified of water...especially open water!  But I've made myself go to the pool three days this week and swim 200m each day!  I know that's nothing to most of you, but for me it's a HUGE hurdle...I still get a little panicky, but I signed up for beginner swim classes that start in April.  I'll get over this fear...or I won't, but either way...I will do a tri this year!

Don't let the OWS freak you out.  If you live near Richmond the RTC should start open water practices in another few weeks.  Not sure when the CAT club starts theirs in the burg.
