I like a tech tee- can't get enough as long as they fit correctly.  What about giving reflective gear like arm bands or a flashing bike light?  I'd appreciate a spare tube as well.

I also like getting discounts to local bike, running, or athletic shops because I'll already shop there. It gives me more incentive and I'll usually buy more.

And sport wash- big fan on not having stinky athletic gear.

tech shirt that you can actually wear outside of the gym.

I got a nice hunter green tech shirt from a sprint I did this year with a tasteful front design...I wear it all the time.  Workouts, amusement park, grocery store, etc.  The other 90% of my race shirts are for sleeping/yard work only.

Would love a hat/visor once in a while.

"Nice" medals are cool (i.e. Marine Corps/Disney/etc)...the el' cheapos from my local races are not.

Prizes?  I have gotten some weird ones:  Pizza cutter (pizza place was title sponser).  Apron (bread company was title sponser).  Even though they are weird and quirky, I at least remember them.  I couldn't even tell you what the AG medals I have gotten look like.

I did an OWS event where we got a nice silicone swim cap with the organizer’s logo on it. Much nicer than the usual paper-thin latex cap that you usually get. A really nice drawstring knapsack-bag-thing is good too. We got a nice one from IM70.3 Rhode Island (and it was the only decent piece of swag they gave out).

I did an indoor tri over the weekend where they gave out flip-flops with the sponsor’s logo and mini collapsible umbrellas (random, but a good idea). Both of those will end up in my transition bag.

I like both cotton and tech shirts and I wear them both. Not as fond of l-s cotton tees, since they always shrink and the sleeves get too short (I’m talking to you, New York Road Runners Club!)

Other stuff that I’ve gotten that I liked were those chamois “swimmers towels”, lip balm, Hammer gel flasks, and nutrition samples. Always nice to get an extra gu or a packet of sports drink mix.

I like the shirts and its a toss up as to which is better.  I like saving the cotton and having a quilt made out of it but I also like the tech shirts.  They tend to get stinky after a while and I throw them out so I never seem to have enough.
I already have 40+ hats and my wife won't let me collect them any more so that's not my preference. Also the beer glass isn't a draw for me as I already have more glasses then I know what to do with.
Water bottles also don't do anything for me.  I just recycled about a dozen of them and they were all swag.
I do like the other misc items (towels, yankz, etc) people talked about.  Medals are about the same as belt buckles to me.  The buckles are more unusual but they display the same (my supply is still small enough that I can display them if I wanted to).
More food is always a plus.  We had a bread company sponsor one and it was marvelous. They had samples to eat, bread to take home, and coupons to bring to the store.  I'm getting hungry. Is it lunch time yet?

Tubes are useful, but I'd be wondering how rough the bike course was going to be.

How about a big jug of laundry detergent.

Any triathlete that says they don't need detergent is lying or just plain NASTY!!!
