Subject: RE: I can't believe I'm doing this! Yes, go for it! I have convinced so many people over the years to give it a go. I'm 47 and have done 1 or 2 sprints a year for the last 15 years. For me, it's been a way to stay in shape in what is my off season (hockey is #1 ). So many people have this preconceived notion that all triathletes are these 5% body fat, perfectly sculpted human beings. They are not! I guarantee that if you go to any local sprint tri, USAT or not, about 5 to 10% of the athletes are what you see on the TV or in magazine ads, 70 to 80% are weekend warriors that keep themselves in relatively good shape (like me and you it sounds like ) and the remaining look like they shouldn't be doing it but you know what? THEY DO IT! And that's what's important. And the great thing about the tri community is, is that the person struggling just to cross the finish line in last place is getting just as big applause if not bigger for making it than the person who finished first. Do it, you won't regret it! |
