Subject: FL 70.3 - Disney water temps
I live in N FL and know how unusually cold it has been this winter. Wondering if anyone has any idea what water temp in the lake at Ft Wilderness may end up being for the 70.3???

I know its a fairly large lake, not sure if it will warm up enough for me to swim without a wetsuit?
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks.
Rhonda

My guess is that it won't be wetsuit legal... or even close. I swam in that lake for a race last year (took place 1 week before IMFL 70.3) and the water was SUPER warm. There wasn't an even "oh, this is brisk" when you first put your feet in. It was just warm. Like bath water. So, even if it's cooler than last year, I doubt it will be anywhere near wetsuit legal. That's what I'm counting on anyway. Good luck to you!

I did the race last year and will be doing it again this year. I don't think the temperature has ever been low enough for wetsuits. I will say that the run is brutal. 60% is off road and 40% is on pavement. The off road part is along canal banks that are lined with trees which blocks any wind.

Can anyone from the Clermont area update?  FL has experienced record low temps this yr and we're really confused.

If no answers - consider bringing your WS along just inc ase; like I said, we experienced record lows for over 60 days this winter in the Tampa Bay area, so I guess central FL experiecned the same.

We swam in Lake Louisa near Clermont yesterday, and I'd guess it was at least mid-70s. You've got a whole month of sunshine before then, and pretty much guaranteed air temps will stay at least that high, so I'd doubt you'll get to wear a wetsuit. But if you want to be super sure, pack it anyway!
