ceilidh - 2010-04-01 8:20 AM BTW Ann, I have the usual things crossed and I am trying to figure out the other things I have two of.
Would the old "cross your heart" work?

I will take whatever I can get.

I am also trying to finish up the KSA questions that I've been avoiding so I can apply for 4 other gov't positions. I would rather have 1 of these since travel isn't involved but at this point I will take what I can get just to get out of here.

im certain you know this already.

sometimes you have to take those 'through' jobs to get to where you want to be.

thats what im learning right now.

i say STEP.

ironannekidd - 2010-04-01 7:32 AM Ghoulies I may need a kick of my own here soon.

I just can't get my head in the game. The few workouts I have done lately haven't been much, which just makes me feel worse. I just can't find anything right now to make me push myself.

i can send you a CUTE BOY to run/ride in front of you.....

seriously though ANN.  i totally get the 'head not in the game' feeling.  it can be VERY disheartening not to mention making everything DIFFICULT AS HELL.

i know that lifting expectations off really helped me, though....i understand what Bill was saying in regards to the whole calf cramp discussion, we're all soooo different.  what works for one doesnt work for everyone.

all that to say, you'll figure out what you need, then when you know, let me/us know so that we can help you along.

lord knows, you've all inspired us a TON!

ghoulie hugs and kisses....and kicks when necessary.

Well Ann(e) as in the immortal words of Red (that 70's show)

How about my size 10.5 up your a$$.  Is that motivating enough for you???

IMHO you are at a point right now where you need a new job and that is taking energy away from your workouts.  You can look at it as a temporary setback that will open new doors with a renewed energy!

I, for one, am looking forward to May for downtime after Iowa.  This has been a long winter of hard training - but I know it has been worth it!

So that leads me to - when is your next race Ann(e)???  Use that for focus!!

I have the PGH HM on May 2nd and Black Bear Oly on May 23rd.

I am super stressed out about my job. I haven't had a decent workout since my hours changed 2 weeks ago. I always feel rushed so I either skip them or don't do as much as I think I should. Before my hours changed I could get an hour and a half workout in before anyone got home. Sometimes I'd still be doing something when the kids got home, but not for long.

I got up so early in the morning so I could get my workouts out of the way without impacting my family too much. My kids are still young, 10 and 6, I can only ask them to sacrifice so much.

I think I'm stressed too because I have PGH coming up in a month and my running isn't where it should be.

My biking isn't what it should be for Black Bear either

See, you are looking at the big picture. It is scary and there are some things you can't change that eat at you. Carve out little bits that you can manage. Your leg is messed up so your runs have been off. Maybe focus for a couple of weeks on the bike and do the other two sports "as you can". Like Stacy did , with no goal or expectations other than to just do them. Or focus on the running, cause even if your leg is hurt, you KNOW you can do the HM.

Maybe setting goals of "sessions" instead of speed or miles. Sessions being a minimum time.

But hey, if you need a boot.. Cause I care... Boot it will be Kiss

thats some great input that ROBIN just gave you.

i havent a single thing to add cept to say, that CHANGE, any sort of change can throw a wrench in the works, but its TEMPORARY.

as triathletes we learn to transition, so consider this just a LIFE T1.

you have a new schedule that you need to adjust and transition through.

then w a new job on the horizon.

slow down.

take a closer look at things.

work through it.

reprioritize.

'change your shoes'

then you'll get back out on the 'course'

does that make any sense at all???

for some reason that whole T1 analogy works for me, but....i feel like im not communicating it very well.

hope that helps.
