Wow, 8:30 and I'm starting the thread? Well it's Mama's rest day, so I'm on my own at the club this morning. If it warms up enough I might take the bike out afterwards. Ellen, are you hogging the warm weather down there?? It's darn chilly up here!

Max

Sorry Max, it's supposed to be 70 here today. WOW! Masters swim this am. They kicked my butt w/ the IM's. Of important note.....I DID IT!!! I hit my initial weight goal of 200#'s!! That is a 50# loss since last July! If I get done w/ work in time, I'll ride w/ the bike club this evening. Hurray for more daylight!! :-)

another beautiful day here, although we may get some rain. swam this morning. 1500 yards. worked on my bilateral breathing and tried some total immersion techniques. there is a woman training for a tri who is working with a coach who seemed to be teaching her total immersion stuff. might see if she knows of classes. run this afternoon.

I guess it's a relative thing if we're to call 44 warm.  But I'm heading out to pound some pavement anyhow.  I have not done that in YEARS.......I am a bit worried..........

Good Morning!!

Speedwork on the treadmill today.
10 x 400's @ 8:30mm
Did a total of 6 miles including warmup, interval 2 minute rests and cooldown.
HR 140-170

Now I have to go stain the woodwork in my bathroom which I have torn apart. So that will be the upper body workout for today.

Good Luck Ellen

If you can stay, on the asphalt instead of concrete. Believe it or not--its softer on the legs and feet.

I'm sure you'll do fine.

The plan:
yoga this morning
short run outside -not scheduled, but to enjoy the good weather
VERY short bike ride -just to the pool, because kid #2 will have my car
long swim -hopefully having saved enough energy to ride my bike HOME (which is the uphill direction!)

Did weights for upper body this am, with 12 minutes on the recumbent for warm up.

Intend to bike this afternoon for about an hour -- if that doesn't happen, I will run outside for some amount of time.

Mike -- sorry about your eye -- have you found out what the damage is?

Nope – no idea. Its clearing though – at the current rate I’ll be back to normal tomorrow. If I feel ok I’ll be doing a short bike ride and a run tomorrow – do a brick!!! Then 2 to 3 hours of volleyball – last league games of the season. I HAVE to be better for that!

thanks Evelyn.  It is all asphalt around here, no concrete anywhere.  And I can't run on soft surfaces or trails because of an ankle that tends to roll.

So I did it!  I went outside and RAN for 2 whole miles.  That's the first time in almost 2 years I have done that.  It was as thrilling as when I first started in '98.  I went to the road where they check the taxi odometers because it is measured and marked.  One mile out then back with a few hills thrown in for good measure.  My time was even slightly faster than on my treadmill but I kept HR where I wanted it.  Many more potholes than on the treadmill too.

I wanted to do the race couse but wasn't sure if I was ready to run 3.5 outside.  I think I would have been fine as the 2 was pretty easy.  Next time!

Everyone is so inspiring this morning but I'm going to take a rest day...have to go to the dentist for a filling, then for my deep myofascial therapy for plantar fasciitis...it hurts like hell but I think it's helping! Keep up the great work everyone!

Hey all! I am still new here, but it is so FUN to read what others around the country are doing! I am still trying to build up my running. I can do 3 miles, and I have raced 1 5K which was so cool! But, it was harder for me than it should have been, thus the need to work more on my running. I am trying to log more miles in a week, so today's schedule is 2 miles. I will run it on the treadmill and "hopefully" can get it all done while the kids are sleeping for nap time! Slow and steady!

Believe it or not, better to wait till this evening to run because it is pretty hot. Very sunny and only 85 degrees this week but last week was 97!! Could it BE any DRIER in this desert?! Had an "Easter in the Park" celebration with preschool class this am, so will have to cart all 4 boys to gym right after school for weight workout. Have great workouts all!

Annie, if it makes you feel any better, I'll be on my way to school when you're swimming, AFTER running at 4 AM.  Good Lord willing I guess.....I've been having trouble getting up in the morning.  Have a nice swim!
