What's the worst thing you ever forgot to bring on race day?

My worst: I generally race in my speedo bikini top under my tri top (looks and supports like a sport bra).  No need for the bikini bottoms of course, you have tri shorts.  Last year while hurriedly getting dressed in my hotel room before a race, I realized that I had accidentally packed the BOTTOMS, not the top.  D'oh!  No choice...had to race in my actual regular bra..under my tri shirt of course Tongue out

I forgot a race belt for a local sprint last year.  I improvised by ripping an old tee shirt and pinning my number to it.

My helmet.  It was an out of town race and I went up the night before.  I was getting my race stuff organized the night before the race, in the hotel room, when I realized I didn't have a helmet.  My husband and I ran right out and searched for a store that sells helmets.  Luckily, we were able to find a Dick's Sporting Goods still open.  It made for a late and stressful night, but at least I had a helmet for the race! Undecided

My front wheel.

It was not actually on race day but the day before.  I drove 2 hrs to a race the day before a race and was unloading my bike at the hotel and realized I had taken the front wheel off my bike to get it to in the back of our Yukon and forgot to load the wheel in the car.

For my first HIM I forgot the key to unlock my bike from the bike rack on the back of my car.  Staring at my bike realizing I had no way of actually getting it off the car was very frustrating!

Thankfully my brother was able to swing by my house and get to the race site with 5 minutes to spare.

I was going to say this for a training ride.  Drove 45 minutes out to the location, and realized I left both wheels at home.

I forgot my entire race packet once - chip, numbers, etc.

Had picked it up the day before, then race morning I left it on the kitchen table.  Fortunately they gave me a new set b/c I didn't have time to get home & back.

I'm not feeling too foolish anymore. Anyone bring the wheels and forget the bike?

I forgot to check the tighness of some key bolts on the bike.  My aerobars came loose and eventually I had to stop mid-race to tighten them.  I thought I make it to the end of the race, but eventually they were so loose it was dangerous to ride...

I've done that for mountain bike rides, left the front wheel sitting at home.

I've also forgotten shoes. On one mountain bike trip, we were planning about 7-8 hours of saddle time. We stashed a car at about the half way point with food and water, and I left my bike shoes in that car. So I did what any sensible person would, rode the first half of the day in sneakers on clipless pedals.

As far as tri races go, my first season my buddy talked me into a sprint the night before the race. I forgot water bottles, any nutrition (at the time I ate way too much for sprints) and my saddle bag with tools/spare tube. I was able to borrow a water bottle and was given a couple Gu packets. Luckily I didn't have any mechanical or a flat.

B2B HIM I'm sitting there with about 1/2 hour before they close transition when it occurs to me that I have no water bottles on my bike. They're all still in the fridge in the hotel room.

Yeah, I made it in time. Barely.

Way too much information here.

Start time?

Actually, it was a total waste of a day... I got there just as the racers were diappearing around the corner. Only later did I realize I'd forgotten my running shoes as well.

For someone who's so utterly disorganized and forgetful, it's a miracle that the ONLY thing I've ever forgotten was a race belt. A nice lady from Team Goody/StayPut gave me another one.

This one made me laugh out loud, if only because I'm certain I'll do something like this one day.  Did you have to drive back or was someone able to help you out?

Much like Mike's issue, the front tire for my bike.  I was doing Oceanside 70.3 and took the tire off to get the bike in the rental car.  Forgot to put it in the car.  Needless to say I drove about 100mph back to the hotel to get it.  My HR was in Z5 the whole time.

Not something that I forgot to take with me to the race, but in transition setup I forgot to put my gels on the bike for a HIM ride.  That's a bummer when you look down for some nutrition after getting settled in on the bike after T1 and realize you don't have any food with you.

I was sitting in traffic at 5:45 AM for a sprint, oogling a Cervelo on the back of the car in front of me when it dawned on me I forgot my bike shoes. Luckily I had SPDs which offered some platform.  Had a quick T1! Still placed well in the race too.
