I know this has been brought up many times...but I coudn't find an answer with a search.

My first triathlon is Sunday(750swim/15m bike/5k run)...I'm cutting back a little on training intensity this week...but should I take Friday or Saturday off completely (or both)?

If it was me, I'd just take Saturday off, unless this is a high priority race for you, in which case I'd take Friday and Saturday off.

However, I would get out and do say 20 minutes of light activity, just to keep the blood moving.

While I'm no pro, I would agree with cadreamer.  If you do something on Fri make sure it is low intensity.  If you workout hard, you are going to feel it most on race day which is exactly what you don't want.  You could even do something on Sat, but make sure you take it easy.  The distances of your race aren't too bad so you should be OK. Good luck!

I usually take off Friday, then do a short workout the day before. Preferably a brick on the race course if its available.

I take the day off before my races, except for maybe a short "check ride" on the bike. I usually do my long days early in the week anyway, so I just stick to my normal routine up until the day before.

My first tri was a bit shorter but I'd been training as if it was at least as long as yours, and maybe too hard. I cut back for most of the week, went very light on both Thurs. and Fri., and did nothing on Saturday. I was still feeling tired through Saturday, but by race day on Sunday I was good. If you have any doubt, err on the side of more rest.

I always take the day before a race off from running (I have mostly run until recently) but I do walk the dog for an hour.
