RacerRik - 2010-06-04 6:13 PM I think 70.3 is cooler.

Also, I have a question for those that have multiple race distance stickers. Why no Oly distance? Is there one? What would it be, 31.93?

I have seen OLY stickers (not the numbers) on cars and online but not in stores.  I have considered getting one.

Here's a question.  If you have done a HIM can you get a 13.1 sticker?  Or a 26.2 for a IM?  Or would you only do the full distance number?

And further, why the emphasis on running? (this is not directed at Keri, but just asked in general along the lines of her questions) Why no 56 or 112 stickers? Or for that matter 1.2 or 2.4? All of this is rather silly really, but I suppose it isn't out of place in COJ.

As the OP:
1.  Why the running emphasis?  because 26.2 stickers are common.  I've never seen a 112 sticker or a 1.2 or 2.4.
2.  I don't know of any 112 mile cycling only races.  they're all 100mi.  El Tour de Tucson is 109mi , but if I put a Tucson 109 sticker on my car, people would think I survived 109 degrees farenheit.
3.  yes- this is all just silly and for fun.  COJ banter.  Not to be taken seriously.  Actually, I don't put stickers on the  back of my car at all.

morey000 - 2010-06-03 12:27 PM Seems to me, that once you've got a 140.6 sticker on your car, the 26.2 is rather irrelevant.

While I consider my IM a "bigger" accomplishment than my marathons, the 26.2 hurt a helluva lot more than the 140.6 -- during and after the race!

Yeah what's THAT all about? I figured the IM marathon would hurt worse, but it didn't.

I have rationalized it by saying that I felt OK going slow on the IM run but I feel really bad about life if I walk during a standalone marathon.

I think at a certain level, they stop making distance based stickers and start making event based stickers. For instance, a 50M sticker wouldn't mean much to many people, but I instantly recognize hardcoredness when I see a JFK50 sticker.

ChineseDemocracy - 2010-06-02 8:59 PM On a triathlete site, 70.3.  On a running site, probably 26.2.
My vote's for 70.3

By the way, the coolest # you could put on your car by far, is -273.15
Nothing's cooler than absolute zero!!!!!!

My vote is for 26.2.  Reason - marathon IMO is much harder.  Shorter, but much harder.

Or, you could just spare yourself the decision and do an ironman.
