Rollin' Thunder - 2005-07-08 11:38 AM Joe, It seems a lot of people have stepped up to you and have been cut down, sulking off into the shadows never to return. I am glad you are on my team. Mike

Yes.  However, I will take this opportunity to declare my retirement from smack-talking, and follow the route that Lance will take - going out, on top, victorious.

Consider this a retirement like Michael Jordan's, though.  If I feel the need to return to the smack-talk arena, I will.  Of course, I'll still bring my A game, unlike the Wizards...

Strange. MJ and Lance actually accomplished something. Duck? Not so much. Who knew that lame talk was a sport? And a poorly played one at that.

Excuse me while I clean the kitchen after my great duck gumbo.

In all honesty, best of luck to your team's racers this weekend, and happy training to everyone else. In the end, we're all BT and I take great joy each and every individual accomplishment.

Thanks for the fun, duck!

Have a great training weekend Hoss Team! What is it about our team that has all the other teams jumping on and posting to our thread? I think lots of them wish they were Hoss members.

I have to get up at 4:15am to go to my tri tomorrow and it looks like it will rain.....well...I'll stay cool. I think perhaps there will be a lot of no shows ...due to the rain. Time to load the car and get ready! I am aiming to finish in around 1:30-1:35 compared to 1:53 last year.

I think I'll wear my lucky yellow heart bike top. I'm excited, nervous and looking forward to beating my time from last year.

I have a 2 hour ride with a 20 minute run scheduled for Sunday. What do you guys have on tap this weekend?

Well, I'm not wishing I were on your team seeing as how I'm on Endless Summer, but let me wish you the very best of luck tomorrow, KathyG.

You've accomplished so much to get where you are and I don't mind taking some overall BT pride in having you show up for the event. Good luck!

We have two folks on Endless Summer lining up tomorrow and I'm sure they'd love to have the entire BT comunity behind them as well. As I understand it, our challenge is to meet our goals and do the best we can at our races. Trash talk is fun to a point, but I'm mostly about encouraging each and every one of us to do the best we can.

Can't wait to read your race report, chica.

lynda - 2005-07-08 6:25 PM  Trash talk is fun to a point, but I'm mostly about encouraging each and every one of us to do the best we can.

Having survived the ups and downs of racing, I'm all about encouraging everyone to do their best at all of their races as well.  May the roads be free of debris, the wave starts free of chaos, and plenty of water stations on the run for ALL of us here at BT.

It takes a special kind of person to lay down some good smack talk - I can put a lot out, but I'll be the first to admit that I might be less than tactful while doing it.  Be that as it may, if someone went out and ran, biked or swam just a bit farther or faster, then I accomplished what I wanted to do.

Amen, brother duck! Good luck this weekend BTers.

ETA: Duck, please don't retire. You're great fun. No kidding. We haven't had anybody else invade Endless Summer. Keep bringing it, quack man!

Until then, enjoy your sport BTers!

Today I did it and I beat my time from last year by 21 minutes and 42 seconds in a Sprint race!! I, the slug, am faster! I passed so many people (both men and women) on the bike (thanks June bike challenge!) and was only passed by one women on the bike. Most of them in turn passed me on the run...I improved over 5 minutes in the swim...almost 10 in the bike, and over 4 in the run, plus both my transtions were less than half of what they were last year!!

Way to go Kathy. 21 minutes is a very impressive improvement! You should be very proud of yourself!

Nicely done!

I think Kim is compiling stats on Monday for the challenge. I'm done for workouts until tomorrow...here is where I stand:

Swim: 162 minutes goal 400 minutes
Bike: 264 minutes goal 600 minutes
Run: 115 minutes goal 500 minutes

My training plan has a jump in running minutes the next three weeks. I am driving 1700 miles each way with 3 of my 5 kids for  vacation in two weeks and staying on an island...nothing but paths on the island so it will be great for running and swimming. I'm bringing my bike but it will be a pain to go to the mainland and ride...but I'll do a few rides. I need to get my long rides in before I leave.

How are the rest of you doing toward your goals? We are 1/3 of the way through the month.

Kathy

Kim,

Last week was a decreased volume week with the beginning of my taper. This week will be a low volume week as well. Don't stress -- I will hit my goals this month even though by Saturday I will not be at 50%.

Oops. Well, what you need to do is go change your log to post yds for your cumulative distance for the month rather than meters. Anyone else whose log is like this should as well. Thanks!

F***er! You just changed it. Where else would I have come up with 3657.22 or whatever it was?! And, fyi, no actually, I didn't drink anything this weekend. Which is probably a record. Maybe that's what's wrong with me.

You lying little wench!  I haven't changed my setup since I STARTED at BT!  I think you're suffering from a lack of alcohol in your system...

Quite possibly true. I'll work on that tonight. But I just wrote down what it said and 4000 yds is 3657.6 meters... now it says 4000. I don't know what changed, but I didn't do it. Go take out your aggression on the smack talk thread.

I already tried that, but I found the rest of the teams to be lacking in the smack department.  I've retired from that thread.

I still love you, but you need to rectify that alcohol-imbalance...

Awesome workouts last night!  Swam 2250 yards and biked 23 miles.  Got a late start on the bike, otherwise it would've been closer to 30 - guess that's tomorrow's plan then.  Run tonight, in the freaking HEAT - min of 5 miles...and possibly some brick training after that...
