Hey everyone, has anyone ever done anything in the TriRock series. They do the Rock and Roll Marathons and such and they look like fun. Any info on these events would be great. I really like the looks of the San Diego race, but I see that it is not a USAT event and was wondering what to expect.

I think I read this is the first year for these so no reviews. Seems pretty expensive to me.

In terms of price, it seems to be about the same price as Long Beach if you registered now, and it does not seem as hardcore as Long BEach (though that is an eventual goal of mine) so I may do it. Plus we have passes for the San Diego zoo so we could do that the day before and make sure I am in early. I do like the length of the swim and the less competitive nature of this event.

I'm doing it!  My friend did the rock n' roll marathon and she said they put on a great race!  Good luck.

I know I heard that stuff. I was just wondering where the Expo for packet pick up is? We have our hotel reservations (damn parking is $29 bucks a day downtown) so I may be riding to the race on my bike with my wetsuit over my shoulder

I got this via e-mail on Thursday: http://listserver2.competitorevents.com/read/archive?id=5531&e=rhunt%40rohan%2esdsu%2eedu&x=533ee1a5

No info about parking. We are going to park at the convention center, that may be your best bet.

I am going to be leading the Swim Buddies for this race. It is the first year for this race so there are some bugs to work out. From the looks of it, it should be a fun experience.

If you get to the convention center before 6:45 am then the parking is free. Just an FYI

A lot of the things they are doing sounds like they are doing everything they can to make it awesome for ultra beginners. I hope this is a fun race, but wish parking and hotels would be cheaper.

I did the Seattle Rock n Roll marathon and the Nashville Country Music Half.  Both were fun events.  Lots of costumes and beer at the finish line.  I wore a tutu and tiara for both races.  Lots of music along the course.  Good atmosphere.

So how did everyone do in this race??? I did not like my AG finish, but I did a sub 10 minute mile which is an improvement for me, and I killed the swim.

My time was 1:17:36. For my first tri I was really happy. My 4 minute T1 needs some work.... I had a great experience and I'll be doing TriRock Sd next year.

I'll put together a race summary this week and post some pics.

I had a 3 minute T1, but taking the extra time to put on some socks and catch my breath helped me on the bike a little. I figured I would enjoy my time so I went a little slower, but for me (and getting over a blister from running in new shoes from the last few weeks) the socks really added some nice comfort that  enjoyed. I will do this race again next year so I have something to improve on, but I will not be in the same AG. I did a 1:44:33 and my run was a 44:08 so I really need to work on that, but I am too sore and have a race next week in Long Beach
