This story is pretty disgusting, but I have to share this. Today I went to the Y for my swim workout. It's summer camp, so kids are everywhere, and they shut the pool down to 2 lap lanes right in the middle with prolly 50 0r 60 kids splashing around on both sides. Just as I'm finishing my swim, the lifeguard says, "Sir, you have to get out of the pool. Some kid pooped in the  pool." So I get out and think wow, great timing, I just finished my workout. So thats pretty gross, but nothing compared to what came next.
     I head to the locker room, grab my shower stuff, and go into the mens shower room. This is the old time shower room, no stalls just a big shower with 12 or so shower heads. I'm taking a shower when I noticed the teenaged lifeguard walkin into the shower room coming fromn the direction of the pool. He's carrying a very large pool cleaning net. Yep, the one the just scooped the turd out of the pool with. I ask him, "hey, is that the net you got the turd with?' He says, "yep, it was huge!" He then turns on one of the showers not 5 feet from me. I say, "Wait, what the hell are you doing." He replies, "They told me to come down here and rinse this out." I say, "Who told you? Why? What are you thinking? Please don't wash that crap out in here!!" Meanwhile, he's already begun! Thats right, he's washing the deuce out of the net right there in the mens shower room. Couldn't freakin believe it.
     So I get dressed and head upstairs and immediately complain to anyone and everyone that will listen.  They assure me it will never happen again. I'm just tinking, WTF? I don't even know what to say!

On another note, whats eating the azz out of all my jammers? is that the chlorine, or am i washing em to much?

LOL, that is gross!

The azz got thin in my last pair of jammers after about a year and I never washed them beyond a thorough rinse after each swim.

Concerning the jammers - are you sure it wasn't you that dropped the bomb? Sounds like from the size of it, that could do some damage.

what are your jammers made out of?  Spandex gets killed by the chlorine.  I had some nike jammers that I retired after 6 months because they were 81% polyester and 19% spandex.  They used to be snug about an inch above my knee, but now they are so stretched out they can actually cover my entire knee.

I have since got some speedo jammers that are 81% polyester and 19% lycra.  Haven't tried them out yet due to injury though.  But they are supposed to handle the chlorine better.  People have suggested 100% polyester...but I couldn't find them locally.

It's so hard to find good help these days.

As far as the jammers, are you drying them in the dryer? I lay mine flat to dry (some hang them) and they last forever.

not gonna comment on the "gross" part

but regarding jammers. Buy a polyester pair. I have had a pair for 18 months and they STILL have not worn out! (i swim 3x per week and usually machine wash and dry the pair after after swim)....its indestructable!!!

Lycra jammers last 2-3 months, max.  When they go, they go bad in a bad way.  Buy Speedo Endurance + suits.  They are indestructible and the drawstring will wear out before the suit.  I've had some for 3+ years on 5-7 swims a week.  Superb product.

Yep, polyester.  I'll never go back to lycra.

We had code brown at the pool a few weeks ago.  It happens.  But rinsing it out in the shower is, well, just wrong.

Y swimming is fraught with perils - brown outs, noodlers, people who won't circle swim, dreadfully high water temps, etc.  I am glad I swim at a swim only club.  Good luck, expect more brown days, along with some vomit days.

I'm too fast to circle swim with recreational swimmers, and too slow to circle swim with real swimmers.  I'd rather split the lane, unless the pool is too crowded.
