Comments: I was very happy w/ my swim performance. I was in the third wave and caught numerous ppl of the 2nd wave and even some of the 1st wave. Water was warm and I had no major issues. Felt comfortable throughout. What would you do differently?: My breathing was better than any previous race, but I wasn't perfect w/ my breathing on 3. Occasionally was on 2 or 4. Transition 1
Comments: No major problems. Put my bike shoes on during T1 and then clipped in at the mounting line. What would you do differently?: nothing. Bike
Comments: We drove the course the night before and I thought it was going to be much more difficult. Turns out it was hilly but not that bad. Plus the temp was still nice at this point. 2 bottles of gatorade. 4 fig newtons. 2 enduralyte tablets. 3 servings of hammer gel. Course was very congested. More details below. What would you do differently?: I got caught up racing against other instead of focusing on my race. Also, got a penalty, which i assume was drafting, but maybe it was obstructing another runner...hehe Transition 2
Comments: no issues. as i was putting on my sneakers i heard brad's name announced on the loud speaker. I wanted a few minute lead going into the run to have a chance at beating brad. well i had about a 30sec lead at the end of t2. What would you do differently?: nothing. Run
Comments: Legs felt fine to start by I had a hammer gel serving within the last 3min of the bike and i felt a bit nauseas as i begain the run...started hacking and almost puked. I settled in though. Mile markers were obviously off since the start and finish were not the same place yet the mid-way point was 2.5mi and likewise the marked the 1mi also as 4mi.. brad caught me around the 1/2 mi mark. we chatted briefly and then he was gone. sun was hot for the 2nd half of the run. i took water at each station but felt dehydrated for the last 1/2mi. Post race
Warm down: Met up with brad. Had some water. watched kristin start her run. hosed down. Event comments: Race was good. Transition area was nice. I had a issues: (1) the wave starts were not done with the fastest AG's first. I was in the third wave and passed 15+ from earlier waves. Plus this also caused congestion on the bike. (2) The mile splits were off. Honestly, how hard is it to get this right??? (3) not enough bathrooms. (4) food line was long so we skipped. we didn't stay for any post-race activities so I couldn't rate that. Male ranking: 197/479 Last updated: 2005-07-10 12:00 AM
