A lil while back there was a thread on temporary number tats. I thought a stencil would be easier. (Yes, I'm a little anal...just a little) Today I was in Staples and accidentally came across Stencils. $5 for 2" letters and numbers. I got back to the office and couldn't help but try it out. I think it works really well with a Sharpie. I also took it off quickly and easily using Purell hand sanitizer and a paper towel. And, no, I'm not really 4 years old : )

I wanted to ask in the last thread, but thought someone else might.

But, what's wrong with the markers they use?

Here's my problem.

If I put sunblock on before (even hours before) they have to scrape half my arm off trying to get any marking on it.

If I put sunblock on after, it smears the marking.

What's a girl to do? Fry?

Yes, it's an outline and you can use a sharpie like usual...$5 and you'll always have pro-looking race numbers. The tats are cool, but pricey and difficult since you never know what your number will be.
There is nothing wrong with the normal way of marking, but at my last race it was done by a group of High School students...let's just say that it appears that "penmanship" doesn't seem to be that important in school anymore.
Once marked and dried, sunblock should be too much of a problem...spray sunblock shouldn't smudge it at all.

I kind of liked my last marking.  It was supposed to be my age and an 'A' (for athena), but the chick did a lower case 'a' and it looked like a zero.  So it read as 420.

I'm REALLY fast for a 420 year old. Wink

Looks cool.

But between sunscreen & wetsuit, I've never had any body markings that were still visibly readable after peeling the wetsuit.  I'm lazy and let the volunteer body-markers do their thang - maybe they all have had weak-fu Sharpies? Dunno...

No one seems to care and it's fine by me - after all, it's less scrubbin' to do in the post-race shower

Cheers, Chris

I would have been amused too, although I am suspecting for an entirely different reason. ;-)

420 on your calf and a bag of Doritis in your hand during the race would really give it away.

I am pretty sure it is Froot Loops as they can't call them Fruit Loops because there is no FRUIT in them.
I was #420 in my last race - got lots of hoots for that - good times!

Thanks...but if I wanted to show of my calf, I would have shaved, really flexed and used proper lighting. As an amatuer photographer, I could have doen much better.

My only motive was to give an inexpensive, easy option for professional looking body marking.
(that's my story and i'm sticking with it!)

LOL ... I thought it was jack's "Doritis" that was being made fun of.

I  think doritis is a weird disease that makes you post pictures of your calf.
