Anyone else ate an earplug??

  I typically put a couple of Shot Bloks in my jersey pocket on race day.  Saturday's race was no exception, however, instead of taking ear plugs out in T1, I experimented and did the bike leg with earplugs left in.  When I left T2, I removed the plugs and put them...in my jersey pocket.  Around mile 4 of the run I reached into the pocket and grabbed the first squishy feeling thing I could find.  Without looking I popped it into my mouth...WTH!!  At first I thought the swim had somehow 'rinsed' the texture out of the Blok.  My heartburn was really bad, so I HTFU and took a few chews only to have the 'blok' break up into smaller and smaller waxy pieces.  "Odd, this taste reminds me of chap stix".  Finally I had enough and spit out the entire mouthful.  After the race, as i was gathering up my things, I pulled TWO Shot Bloks from my pocket..."Oh, maybe I put 3 in there.  Now where is that other earplug?" 
You KNOW you're a triathlete when you eat your ear plugs!
