OK, if ya need to take a rest day to insure that your income taxes are filed, then you're excused. I'm going to try and come up with an interval workout on the bike trainer today, since it's back to 35 degrees and cold rain this morning.

heaving a sad sigh.... Yesterday turned into an unplanned rest day. A friend died of a heart attack -young-ish, healthy, but there was some congenital anomaly in his heart that decided to make its presence known yesterday. It's got me kind of off-step, emotionally and physically.... and certainly yesterday's planned activities (not just working out) ALL got changed around.

So, the next few days are kind of un-plan-able, as we work through the funeral and the wake and who knows what else. So, to keep a bit focused, and to enjoy the beautiful weather, I will ride my bike to work rather than driving. Big deal, I know. But it's a kind of workout, sort of.... If I can squeeze in some yoga before I leave this morning, I'll do that, too, but somehow I doubt it.

Andrea - very sorry for your loss.

FINALLY! Enough light at 6:10 to ride the sidewalks and make my way safely to the bike path. FINALLY! Warm enough (51) not to freeze fingers, face and toes!
FINALLY! On the plan as I drew it up. Also discovered on the bike this AM that my 8 mile run was a 10 mile run, my 9 mile run was an 11 mile run, etc. Kind of elated about that too. Masters Class tonight.

ahhh...no rest day for me today! I am having a hard time getting my full workout in these days since the end of the semester is fast approaching. The good thing is, though, I can do a 3 mile run in 30 minutes or just under, so on days when I really don't have time to do even thatt, I can fit it in better than my usual two hours. I was supposed to swim yesterday, but I ended up getting bogged down in a meeting, then rehearsal, then homework....grr made me mad. Hopeully today will be better, though.

Sorry about your loss Andrea.

I had an odd day. I planned on waking up at 9. At 1:30 in the afternoon I opened my eyes. I slept 12 hours!! Apparently my body was telling me something! lol

So, I went to a Pilates class and then Spinning Class.

Woke up to pouring rain, but that did not deter me because my workout was indoors today.
I feel like I beat the weather -- lol

Anyway, swam 900 yards, then another 200 with fins. I'm finally getting my arm position, roll and kicks in order.

One hour pilates class using the roller...abs have been worked to the CORE!!!

Andrea, Sorry about your friend, I too had a classmate from high school die unexpectedly... it makes us realize how quickly life can change.

Andrea,So sorry about your friend. God bless his family and you and yours.Wednesday turned into an unplanned rest day (had a planned Happy Hour! )So it was up and at them this morning. Did my usual 1 mile run before spinning class and guess what 12:59!!!!!!! Woo Hoo, my first mile under 13 minutes. Yeah! This running stuff is getting easier. Wish I was making such progression in swimming. Uggggggh! Had a good spin class (bonked on our 12-min hill, just couldn't get up there), then swam 800m. Back to the gym tonight will do weightlifting and kickboxing. Woo Hoo!Have a good training day all.

Andrea, so sorry about your friend. I pray comfort to you and the family.
Off to the gym today for a bike and swim (lost a contact last night so I hope I don't crash into the side of the pool). That tri is closing in! How did it get to be the middle of April? Great workouts to all!

Andrea, my condolences for you and your friend's family. My father has a heart anomoly (atrial fibrulation) and has had several heart attacks, and 2 strokes. He's going into the hospital this weekend for some more tests. He's only 58, but lived a hard life.

As for training, I'm soooo mad at myself! Yesterday, I was supposed to do "easy running" for 15 minutes, instead I felt so good that I thought I'd try some interval training. I was warned about this in every magazine and book that I've read, but I'm in my "race prep phase" and wanted to try. So I did about 2 miles in 15 minutes, doing 200 hard, 100 easy. Then 2 hours later, even though I didn't hurt during or after my workout, my knee is hurting. Not exactly my knee, but right below it on the outside. I hope that it's not "serious", it shouldn't be, it doesn't hurt that much. So I'm going to try some easy spinning tonight, and then swim tomorrow if it feels better. My first tri is in 3 weeks!

Sorry about your friend Andrea.

Went to my 6:30am masters swim. I still suck at it. I stay in the far slow lane. I need to figure out how to not get my but to sink. :-(

Gonna run 3 (maybe 4) miles at the gym at lunch.

Andrea, my heart really goes out to you.  That is so sad.

Swam 2900 meters at 5:30 a.m.  I still can't figure out how it was 53 deg. when I got in and only 50 when I got out!  Ran 5.5 miles later in the a.m.

50min bike...mid 60's!!!  good ride, fast and am finding that doing a cadence of 95-100 is not all that bad and saves my legs (used to be a big gear pusher)
