I'm visiting Olympia for a weekend, and hope to have a little spare time to explore a trail or two.  Can anybody recommend a spot to run about 10 miles of the good stuff (no crushed gravel or pavement, etc.)?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Check out Capitol Forest. Huge recreational area, lots of trails (MTB's and motorcycles also go out there).

I took your advice and went got to Capitol Forest on Monday morning.  What a treat!  I started at the Rock Candy Mountain trailhead and just starting running until I felt like I was gonna get lost... then I doubled back and headed for the car.

The only other people I saw were loggers.  One of them claimed, "We're just here to turn this place into a$$-wipe."  That was kind of a bummer.  But otherwise, you all are lucky to have such an awesome playground out there.  Looks like you could run for a solid week out there and not explore all the trails and fire roads just on Rock Candy.

Thanks again!
