$2 earplugs
$6 sleep mask

Why didn't I think of that before?

I wore them the night before my last race and it was AWESOME! No more getting annoyed (due to race nerves) about lights being turned on, or snoring, or the dog panting or whatever.

Bliss.

I highly recommend it.

I've had trouble sleeping of late but found a site called SimplyNoise.com which specialises in producing white noise apps and soothing tracks. I downloaded the thunder storm track and just put that on. Soothes me to sleep in no time lol

Oh and I still wake up to my alarm which I don't think ear plugs would help with .....

I always use earplugs, mostly due to the dogs.  I keep toying with getting an eye mask cause I have trouble sleeping through the night and I hear this can help.  But I keep thinking that feeling it on my face would bug me more.  Did it take you a while to get use to the eye mask?

It did take a few minutes to sort of block out the feeling of having it on my face. But honestly, I don't feel my goggles after the first few seconds, and it's WAY less annoying than goggles. I think you'll get used to it quickly.

I could still hear my alarm with the earplugs. They just kind of dampened things.

My wife introduced me to eye pillows when we first met (also known as yoga pillows I think). Those things are AWESOME!!! I never use earplugs when sleeping but I've thought about it many times when traveling. I'll have to give it a shot.

Ear plugs and a burblie thing. White noise maker set to a babbling brook. The burblie thing only runs for 45 minutes then shuts itself off.

I started sleeping with ear plugs on field problems with 20 man tents and just got used to them. Alarm is no problem, then again I flew with ear plugs in and it just gets to be "normal". The coffee grinder built into my coffee pot on the floor below where I'm sleeping tends to wake me up 10 minutes before the alarm goes off in any case.

LMFAO!!!!!

Too funny!

I use to fly to Asia a lot, 3-5x per year back in the 90's.  Business class on NW then would give you a kit with sleep mask and I'd added ear plugs.  Stay up late the night before the trip, take 1 mg of Melatonin right before take off and I'd sleep 8-10 hours on the 12-16hr flights.  My travel partners couldn't believe I could sleep on a plane like that, hence I always got the window seat.

I've always kept ear plugs in my travel bag. Any hotel, all the slaming doors, talking in the hall keeps me up. Its a sick joke, I'm always next to the ice machine as well.

I just keep a fifth of Jack with me.  Couple of swigs and I fall right asleep.

Seriously, I use ear plugs all the time in hotels for both business and personal travel.  Same as Running2far.  Dang doors, elevators, ice machines.  They all keep me up.
