Have had a chest cold all week, have had restless sleep, and have generally felt crappy. In turn this has caused me to miss training yesterday & today, and I'm feeling pretty frustrated. Normal feelings, I would think, and I realize I need to get this cleared up before I can get back to my plan, but I can't help but feel frustrated, and quite a bit P.O'd about it.  I don't want this to sidetrack my progress. Oh, and I'm heading out on a weeks vacation today. Hopefully this will clear up quickly, and I can get back and hit it hard this week, when I can.  Just needed to vent, I guess.

I know exactly what you are feeling. I flew out to the mayo clinic in Minnesota for my wife's heart surgery this past Monday. I figured we would train together for the first 3.5 days before her procedure and then I would still get some in at night. A great week of training with no kids, dogs, house to clean or cooking.

Well I end up getting sick Monday and in the ER on Wednesday night with pnuemonia in my lungs. I've never taken so many drugs and cough drops this past week so I could be here for my wife. It's been all R&R. Feeling like I'm gaining wieght and back to the old lazy me. Hate it. Probably have another few days with bad lungs and a cough before I am back on track. Right when I return back to being the working family dad at home and time is less. Oh well.

At least my wife is coming through like a champ!

Hope you are feeling better soon. One thing to keep in mind in our training one thing often overlooked is rest, it's so easy to overtrain in this sport, just trying to do 3 of each plus a liittle gym time can be consuming. A little to rested is better than over trained.

Something I try to tell myself is "Exercise doesn't make you stronger rest does" obviously rest followed by good exercise.

Have a great vacation.

Hang in there!  I'm just coming off 3+ weeks of no training - bad chest cold topped off by a couple of days of food poisoning (minor but gross just the same).  This morning I went for a 2 miles "test run" and felt great.

Glad to hear your wife is doing well!

I hear you, brother! I pulled my hamstring last week and have been put on a "no run/ride" for two to six weeks by PT! Today the PT told me it was okay to start swimming every other day, so at least that is something.

Here's hoping you recover quickly, and also that your wife does as well!!!

The one that is always forgotten is a little Vitamin D.  It helps the body rebuild areas affected by your immune system.

Very true.  Hero makes an orange gummy vit D supplement, one a day for everyone in the house.
