Train harder for open water swims

I have no previous experience with triathlons but im going to assume that not all transition areas are a half mile long.

Get there earlier so I dont have to leave my stuff on the grass next to the transition area

I competed on my fixed gear, so I consider my time pretty good

Save up some money and buy a multi-geared freewheeling tri bike!

I felt myself losing energy fast on the run and quickly found myself walking a good portion of it, all in all this was my only real dissapointment with my first triathlon.

Lack of brick training


All in all I think this was a VERY well run race, it seemed they werent prepared for the amount of people that turned out but they did the best with what they had, I counted at least 6 water stations on the run which was very appreciated as it was starting to get real hot. Lots of useful race day goodies in the packet as well as free food and massages after the race. Everyone at the race was very friendly, which was appreciated as it was my first triathlon and I found myself struggling hard on the run. I would do this race again in a heartbeat, and as a matter of fact I intend on doing the next sprint tri in the area on aug 14th, hopefully I can focus a little harder on the run this time!
