So I'm pimping out my local race to a friend and find that it's been cancelled? WTF? When did this happen? Last time I checked, a month or so ago, it was still on. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Wow. Seems like over reactions abound. Over reaction of the participant who shouted expletives. Over reaction by the Parks Dept. to require the change that killed the race. Seems like there could have been some middle ground like better traffic control at the park entrance.

Yep the new rangers have managed to get rid of all events at the park. They don't want to do any extra work so get rid of the events. Puget sound cruises put on a lot of races, for 17 years, gone. Capital city bike club used to have tours, they moved to tumwater. Club Oly used to have a cross country race there, done. Now black hills has suffered the same fate. Just because of two new rangers who are lazy and jerks.

Wow! So your du series was ousted as well? I remember the Two-County Double Metric Century out of there as well (major STP tune-up ride). Just... wow...

Holy COW! Black Hills already had one of the longest swim-to-T-Zone runs in the area. So they wanted to move it to the park entrance? That'd make it something like 3/4 mile from swom finish to T-zone. Incredible. Were they still going to allow the trail run with the T-zone at the park entrance?

I forgot its a State park. I do not think that you would see this as much in a city or county operated facility.

So this is more about the park rangers than the incident?

I didn't realize so many things down there had been cancelled already. I know at least 3 people that were planning on doing Black Hills, not counting myself. I hadn't registered yet, I wonder if they have......

lol, that run to T1 was brutal!

Black Hills was my first tri, I've done it every year since. Sad that it's going away. It's been going a long time......

Sad news...that triathlon had been going on there for several years. And in the last few years, they added a duathlon, as well, which my husband and I did last year (a friend of ours did the triathlon).  Wow, so glad we went ahead and did it in 2009...if we had thought to wait until this year, we would have been out of luck! Cry
