I guess this is less about nutrition and more about work outs.

I'm about 225 now, about 5 pounds down from when I started training. I gave myself 9 weeks to train for a sprint tri that is .5/13/3    I don't have easy access to a place to swim so thats becoming a challenge since it's 4 weeks from my race and i've been able to swim once.

I started off running because i had a broken bike and no where to swim, so after about 2 weeks hitting 2miles, I finally got my self up to 3 miles. I did a 5k on Aug 12th so I was happy that I've got my run distance down. I've been on a bunch of bike rides, all totaling over the amount the bike portion is. yesterday I did a .25 mile swim and a 13 mile bike right behind it. And today I did a 13 mile bike with a 3 mile run. My main question is...

Is it good to continue this pattern?

Should I be doing multiple sports daily? Or working on one and only bricking every week or something? Thanks

First of all congrats on the weight loss.  I was 230 in March and currently sit at 187 as of this morning.  I like to brick once or twice a week and focus on going well over the sprint distance on the dedicated days.  I find strength training is essential to me as well.

Take a look at some of the training plans on here. There are many free ones available. Even if you do not decide to follow a plan, it will give you a good idea of how to space out your training.

This is good advice too.  Always remember the value of rest days.  It seems counter intuitive but you make most your progress out of the gym and off the street.

I 100% disagree with this assumption.

I've trained for marathons and half ironmans and toed the line for both at the heaviest I've ever been.  I did the work and put in the miles, and really sabotaged my race by not being diligent with respect to what I put down my pie-hole and managed not to lose any weight (in fact I gained a bunch) despite burning tens of thousands of calories while working out each month.

No amount of training is really going to offer more bang for your buck on race day as losing 5-8 pounds a month between now and then.  And most of us, despite some of us putting in some SERIOUS amounts of training, won't lose much weight at all in training unless we give serious focus to the diet as well.

I think there's wisdom in what Josh writes.  I've had great progress focusing on nutrition both during and not when working out.  Have to experiment with what works.  Rest days, as another poster said, are critical to avoid the nagging injuries from over training.  Ice is a wonder drug often ignored after working out also.   I brick once a week normally, occasionally twice, and just completed my first sprint last weekend.  Your distances seem fine other than not enough water time.  Just remind yourself you'll learn a ton at the first race, and don't overdo it out of the gate.  I finished my first with plenty of gas left in the tank and a smile on my face, and now I'm aiming at an OLY in September.  Enjoy it and good luck!

Starting weight- 298/current weight 235/target weight 200, and I've been at it for 16 months now.
