Off on Monday and seriously thinking about riding up 80, then along BRP to summit of Mitchell and back. If anyone else is interested let me know. About 4 hours or so and a few hills... .

Ha ha ha ha.  A few hills.  Ha ha ha.  Would love to ride with you, but work calls.  There is usually a Tuesday or Thursday group ride that meets at the visitor center and goes up 80 to the bus turn around.  They usually go around 6 if you ever want a late afternoon ride.

Mrs. Tri42 was really concerned about me going alone and after taking into the prospect of multiple 50+ mph descents I decided to wait.

Billybob., let me know when you want to ride and we'll climb the "few hills" one day in the near future. It'll be fun. Usually I park at the bus stop turnaround and ride from there. Warmup takes about ...oh... 30 seconds.

You had me until "summit of Mitchell".  Instead I will lower myself into a vat of boiling tar...sounds less painful.

What kind of speed? Could a novice hang with y'all for a bit?

It would be great to have someone else. For a good part of the ride, I'm going 6-8 mph. Are you familiar with the route ?

We would mostly stay together and regroup as needed on a ride... no prob.

When is a good day to ride ? Obviously weekends come to mind, but this weekend is out for me. Maybe I can get off on Tuesday or Friday of next week. It's a fun ride and people from the area know already, but the views from the Parkway and Mitchell are amazing.

I'm off on Tuesday so if anyone else would like to ride please respond. We can go part of the way or all the way to the summit.

Will do. Assault on Mt Mitchell is a great ride. I read all I could find about it then rode it the last 2 years.... incredible experiences.... lived up to its hype and then some, for me.

Would still like to find at least one person who could ride this Tuesday.

Maybe there is someone out there who is extending their Labor Day holiday and would like to ride the Parkway and possibly summit Mitchell On Tuesday morning.

Would like to ride this Monday, 9/27, if anyone else is up for it. Will leave from the bus stop turnaround or I can start in Marion and go up 80 to Pkway/Mitchell. This is nearly an epic ride by itself.

I have lots of vacation left so I'm taking a couple of Mondays and Fridays to lengthem my weekends.

Maybe there's someone out there wanting to ride that's off from work Monday.
