I live in Doylestown. There are a bunch of good group rides, some longer on the weekend. Including myself I know at least 5 folks planning to do IMLP next year. Are you training for a specific event?

I'm registered for IM CdA (june 2011).  Looking to get longer rides in early next year... maybe a few later this year before the season is over.

Where do you meet the group?  Downtown Doylestown?

Some nice riding along the Delaware. And if you're in Doylestown why not ditch the roadie and jump on a hybrid or mountain bike and take to the Delaware Canal towpath? I'm thinking you can squeeze in about 60 miles worth or towpath if you start at New Hope cross over to Frenchtown all the way to Washington Crossing continue south to Bristol and then back to New Hope. Possibly?

Less traffic and a different feel when you're off-road and not on asphalt.

I just mapped it......New Hope to Frenchtown to Washington Crossing to Bristol and then back to New Hope is a hair under 75 miles. Shade and little traffic works for me.

Agreed and I'll definitely check this out... by trying to get miles in on the bike i'll be using in the IM. Subtle differences even on the same bike can make devastating differences... let alone training on a different type of bike.

Going to look into the tow path in the fall though with my fiance - thanks for the tip

I live in Lansdale and nearly every weekend ride up to Nockamixon to train for IM AZ this year with my neighbor who is also doing it. She is signed up for IM CdA in 2011 and I did it in 2009. We have also both done IMLP. You guys should hook up with us. The loop around Nockamixon is really good for training as it allows for most to be ridden in the Aero position. Each loop is about 19 miles.

This sounds perfect. I would definitely like to tag along. Do you have a map of the route, from a tracking program or google maps perhaps? When will you be starting the trips up to the lake again?

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=99945 This is the loop around Nockamixon.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=85949 This is an off shoot from Nockamixon that we often ride for a bit of variety.

As for when, I have 2 funerals this weekend and Christine is not available so I will not be headed up this weekend but usually on Sat or Sunday mornings we head up. We head out at first light. It takes about an hour to get there by bike. Right now we are doing ~90 mile rides which equates to Up, back and 3x around. We'll probably step it up a little longer between now and IMAZ at the end of Nov. but not too much longer. Having done IMCd'A, I would say this loop is a decent training route for Cd'A.

This is awesome - thanks for the info.  I've just entered the taper phase of my HIM training... so may not make it up to the lake before the event... but with IM training this winter/next spring I will definitely be doing this route.  Would like to meet up with you for some longer rides. Also curious to hear your thoughts on CdA.  GL with the final push to IMAZ
