He won't sing it for himself, but I will.

Our very own blackledge (Ryan Blackledge) placed SECOND OVERALL in the run in the Chicago Tri (Sprint), in a field of 2285, with a blistering 17-minute 5K.

Just like he did last year

(psssst he is also a Manatee)

If you're interested, here's his race report. He is really, really, cute too, but he's married. And pregnant!

SUPER CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Congrats on that run!  I read the race report, and the bike was very similar for me.

Wait wait wait....

Most of his 5k times are in the low to mid 20's and he busted a 17:05!!!!!!!!

Holy crap! How does that happen and how do I sign up for that!

If I did that, I would be waiting for the DQ for cutting the course.

Thank you everyone!

And before rumors start, I am not pregnant but my wife is
As for the run...I am thinking that one of the volunteers spiked the water at the first aid station. My two fastest 5k times ever have come at the Chicago Tri for the past two years.  I don't know how myself but once I figure it out I'll let a few select people know.

Yanti - Thanks for the compliments...you are much too kind!  I am not sure about the "really, really cute" part but it's much appreciated.  I love being a manatee and thanks for all of your support this year.

Tricia--thanks for the nickname and congrats on your pregnancy too.  The Ironbaby is almost here!

I'm just going to throw this out there for consumption, and fully expect to be called a "party pooper."

I think the 5K is a bit short for the Chicago Tri.  I'm slow as dirt under most situations, and I'm still running at or slightly faster than my best runs - AFTER the swim/bike legs.

Just a thought, but it doesn't diminish the accomplishment you achieved.  2nd is still 2nd, it's the same distance for all of us.
