Looking to buy a new tri bike this winter and need a really good fitter.  Looking for suggestions. (except for Wheelie fun in Lebanon!)  I don't mind driving to find a good honest shop.

Thank you!

I had a bad experience with my bike fit a couple months ago.  I kind of felt like Bob doesn't care as much now that he doesn't own the store.  Every time someone would come in he would step away and have a chat.  It ended up taking forever.  Then He says, I need this, this and this and it will be $450 (including fitting)  I say go ahead.   When he starts looking for the parts none are in stock so he is like, "I can make this one work."  I feel like he just wanted to finish the fitting and move on.   $450 is a lot to spend on a $500 bike... (Which I didn't mind if I felt it has really setup right.)

I am more than likely buying the 2011 Felt b16 and figure it was a good time to shop around for service..

Thanks!

Ps.  I have heard great things over the years about the store, this was just my one experience.

I know it's further north than you listed, but we've always had great service at Bike Authority, south of Cleveland off of 77. We moved to Indiana and still go back there for service - we think it's worth the drive.

Hey, I would drive that far for great service.  BTW.   Good luck and Cedar Point next weekend.  I might make a trip up there to watch.  I am thinking that might be my first half next year.

You can watch the finish for free starting at 8 pm. I'm not sure about before that; I can't find an absolute answer, even though I've seen plenty of places where people are pretty sure. The athlete guide shows how the finish is divided off in the park.Rev3 is also selling discount tickets. I'm sure you could find an athlete to buy it for you....and the Bike Authority staff will be there.

TriTech does a good bike fit if you get LeAnne. But I think the women get LeAnne and the men get Christ and, well, I don't want to slander anyone on the Internet, but....

Anyway, they are certified in the FIST technique. I had a great fit there for my road bike. I later used those fit measurements (they print it out for you) to purchase my tri bike, which fit great with almost no adjustments.

TriTech is on the north side of the Columbus, very close to I-71.

Don't crucify Christ. (pronounced Cr-isst, BTY) He does a fine job. Just don't expect a smile or small talk from him.

Got my bike at there store in Kenwood, great people great service.  After i put about 400 miles on my bike I took it to the store for a tune-up.  The cleaned, tightened and greased up everything for free..  See if you can find a store around you

Have you considered International in Bellbrook? I have no experience with them but a friend really liked them when he lived in the area.

Good luck.

Actually, I road there last week and talked to him.  Very nice guy.  He had a good selection of high end road bikes.  No tri bikes at all.  I just figure if Im spending 2000 on a bike I will travel 2 hours or so to find a good tri fitter..

I second the vote for Tritech, I have gone there for alot of gear-including bike and bike fitting, wetsuit, ect and they have always given me stellar advice and help for a newbie. I would highly recommend them.
AND, everytime I go in, they remember my name!!
can't quite figure THAT out....

My 100% first choice would be to call bob duncan (he either still works with wheelie fun, or just as a coach/frame builder/fitter now, search veritas bike frames).

he will spend qual;ity time with you, understands fit very very well, and will do a spin/power meter fit, so he'll change fit as you go while checking power output

That is who I paid to do my first fit.  That is why I am looking for other options...  Thanks for the input though...

if you dont mind sharing (feel free to PM me if you dont want this on the forum), what did you like/dislike/what are you looking for now that you didn't get before (i'll read the rest of the thread now so if its up there excuse the question).

I ask because most fitters, even the ones with hte same training, all fit diff/have diff ideas.
I may be able to point you to someone that has what you are looking for/did not get last time around.

FWIW i have gone to diff fitters for diff things in the past before i started doing my own fits.
they all focus on diff things, power output, comfort, low positions, etc etc.

i personally am not wildly enthused with the fit options in ohio at all, but thats just me.

if you can though let me know and i'll see what ic an do to help.

ok just read the first post.

so follow up question, are you on a fitted bike now (in which case why the need for a new fit?).

i personally dont care for the style of fits tri-tech does (yes i have been fit by them as well as two of my athletes, we all ended up changing).

I am in a fitted bike now.  Its a 7 year old $600 Road bike.  I have about 450 miles on it after being fitted.  My longest ride is 35 miles.  Usually the back of my neck and shoulders are a little sore after that ride. (which doesn't mean that it isnt fitted right).

I am going to be buying a new tri bike this winter.  The most important thing for me is comfort.   Now I could go back to Wheelie fun and have them use the numbers from the first fit for a new bike. (which I might) but I was hoping that someone would say, "you need to go to XXXXXXX" they are the by far the best" and have a lot of people agree.  Since that isn't happening my choices are getting fewer and fewer.  I will pm you with details on what happen on the first fit.
