Ok peeps, whats up with this? Last 2 rides I've gotten 2 flats.  Riding M. Pro Race 3's with 775 miles on them.  180 lb guy with tire pressure at 110psi.  First was the rear and this morning was the front

They were both "snake bite" pinch flats near the valve of the tube and each of the tires has a small cut near the valve.  The tubes were different.  One had a smooth stem and the other was threaded with the little nut that goes on to keep the valve against the rim.

Otherwise the tires seem to be in good shape a few nicks and one (front) had a puncture within the first 50 miles, but otherwise they've been look new, roll good, etc.

So Augusta 70.3 is in 3 weeks, I've only got the one bike and one set of wheels, so do I just play it by ear with new tubes or do I replace the tires (at 775miles)? Am I doing something wrong that would cause this?  Just gremlins to make me nervous?  Its working!!!

I have gone 6 months or more without a flat...and then 3 in one ride all from different reasons.  All you can really do is take precatuions when putting on the tube to make sure there is nothing sticking into the tire to cause another flat, make sure you are easy with the metal tire levers, and ensure smooth (no creases) in the rim tape.

It happens, better to happen now and give you the practice at least.

Rim tape.

I have had similar problems from a piece of glass that was stuck in the tire. Could not feel it from the outside, but could feel it from the inside with enough pressure. It did not cause the snakebite on the tube though, just one hole.
