Has anyone raced this one? I did my first sprint at TTP John Tanner #2 this past weekend and I'm ready for more. I was planning on doing the Lake Lanier one, but it's closed. Waited too long! That really sucks because it's in my back yard and my normal training areas. Any feed back would be appreciated. I would like to get one more under my belt this year.

I did it last year.

The swim is in a pond.  The bike is fairly hilly, and the run is a definitely hilly.

It's a great low budget race.  It doesn't cost as much as a lot of the other races around, but you get what you pay for.

It is generally wetsuit legal, but I think Cindi and I were the only two people wearing wetsuits.  I lined up for the start and most of my fellow age groupers thought I was a wierdo for wearing some sort of funny suit.  15step was lined up next to me wearing a UGA kit, and we both got a chuckle out of everyone.

Can't go by last year for course notes. It's a totally new course this year in a new location. New maps are posted on the web site. Generally though it's a small, friendly race. I hate that it moved. I loved the mostly trail run on this one. Won't miss that lake though, really brown and grungy!

It has moved!

It looks like it is at the same place as a race that was in the spring up there that Rocketman and Jcollins22 did.

Here is the website for anyone interested.

I am thinking about this one as well. I might have to put it on the docket to close out the 2010 season.

Just an FYI if anyone is on the fence.....

Early registration extended to 9/20/10.

I think that just sealed the deal for me.

Yup, raced it last year. Swim is a catfish pond, so be ready to be stinky. Wetsuits are alright, but I thought that the swim was too short to really matter, plus a long run to transition. Bike, I thought was fast, and the run was very hilly, mostly off road trail running. Low budget, but still a fun time, small races are always a blast.

Thanks for all the replies. So is the entire course different from last year or just the bike / run course? I don't care for swimming in a catfish pond so much, but it looks like I don't have a choice.

Completely different course and location.  Although I loved the trail run last year, especially when I got lost and ended up trudging through the brush/forest for a 1/4 mile.

Last year was Summerville, Sloppy Floyd State Park

This year in Rome, Darlington Upper School.  That is at least 15 miles apart.

Good luck!

I raced last year and thought it was very well organized. I would expect it to be nothing but the same since it's the same race director I believe. It's a fairly long drive, so make sure you get up early if you are not spending the night in Rome the night before.
I'll be going to support my wife while she races!!
