Subject: My wife's support of my running - she's the best

Last week I shared my thoughts with my wife about doing a 1/2 marathon in the spring. She's not an athlete, but puts up with my early AM alarm, etc when I go out for workouts, and it works for us.

I come home from work a couple days ago, and she tells me "If you're going to run outside all winter, you need this!" and gives me a bag containing 3 long sleeve compression running shirts, some fantastsic Under Armor running pants, a pair of gloves, and a reflective vest. Used them all yesterday, and it was great. I'm thinking I'm lucky

Now I need to tell her about the HIM bike ride, and see if she brings home a Cervelo P2

You wore 3 long sleeve compression shirts on your run?

I need to find me a hubby that will do that.  I love running outdoors in the winter.  Don't forget to pick up a head lamp for running in the dark if you don't already have one.

Great news! My husband (who doesn't train with me, but like you puts up with the early morning alarms/times away when I am training, etc.) got me two pairs of winter running tights last year without my knowing...always nice to know that you are supported even though they may not completely understand the actions!

(I also thought that you wore the three compression shirts simultaneously...which would have been a sight!)

I told my wife that I need 130 miles running in the month of December to make my annual mile goal. She promptly said, "I'll keep bugging you to run every day so you can make it." Can't beat that.

She has totally gotten on board with the whole tri training thing ever since I took the whole family to the REV 3 Cedar Point. She finally "got" what triathlon is all about.

It is awesome to have a tri-supportive spouse. Congratulations on yours.

It must be something in the clean, crisp Altantic Ocean air.  My wife is the same way.  Are you sure she isn't buttering you up for something?

Couldn't agree more! My wife and son joined me on my IM Wis volunteer trip and loved it!

I showed my wife my 2011 Triathlon/Duathlon Racing Plan, and she threatened to walk out!

Joke.......hehehe.....I'm happy to get a head nod, a deep sigh of resignation, and a "just be careful, hon".....(and she's probably right)! Im haplpy for any signs of support that I get.

I'm guessing that's the typical reaction from a triathlon widow/widower? It's a time consuming sport, and it takes away from family time, for sure. But it sure beats having to take blood pressure medication, or being stressed out all the time....I am a much calmer, centered, and pleasant person to be around with after a 2.5 hour brick, so there are benefits to all of this.

That's awesome! Jealous!

I am working on my hubby for a new tri bike ... he is requiring a certain amount of non-monetary marital ummm payment.

Cool...It is great to have a supportive wife.  My wife has woke up as early as 4:00AM to travel to races with me and puts up with all my training.  She has even started running in the last few months and wants to do a TRI next year.  We went in to purchase her some new running shoes last month and we both came out of the store with new pairs.  Love my wife.

There is no limit to what I would do if my wife would agree on a tri bike purchase!  Unfortunately, the power of the ummm payments, doesn't seem to work as well in this direction!
