A friend is doing it and wants to wear a wetsuit.  Does anybody know if it has been wetsuit legal in the past?  I couldn't find anything on the website.

Not at all familiar with this race.  Just remember, if the race is not wetsuit legal, there is an option to wear a wetsuit if you forfeit your chance at awards (in most cases).

I did this race two years ago and it was wetsuit legal.  Of course, it depends on the Lake Norman temperature the day before the event.

Early May lake temps are typically low to mid 70's.  The wetsuit-legal varries, but your friend probably shouldn't need it.  Also note that it is a deceptively easy, beginner race.  No elevation changes on the bike or run to speak of whatsoever.  It truly is a "newbie race".

It's her first tri so it being a newbie race is probably a good thing.  Thanks for the info.

They switched Buck Hurley Tri in Salisbury to May 1st which is a pool swim, just to give you another option. Also less expensive.
